I bought this camera for my fever for underwater photography. It's a good under water camera. My experience with this product, (1) Bit difficult to access and change settings. (2) Water seal is good. (3) low battery life (merely enough for average day). Drains final phase very rapidly. (4) GPS is bit slower. (5) Good for close ups.

I am a Nikon DSLR user with extensive semipro experience. I bought the AW 100 this August as my first underwater compact for holidays, backup and fun. After first evening I wanted my money back, but next day I decided to give it a second chance, this time after studying it carefully. Outstanding results for a so small sensor compact, amazing colours and breathtaking close-ups at 1 cm or even less ! I knew Nikon doesn't shine on small compacts, but they did a very good job on this one. ...

This camera seemed like the perfect travel camera for family trips involving water. I was very excited to buy the camera and picked one up a few weeks ago at Costco at what I thought was a reasonable price. The short version of my experience is this camera is a complete disaster despite what seems to be wonderful build quality for a point and shoot. Problems are detailed below but short version is I am a pretty experienced photographer and have never been more disappointed in a product. ...

Yes, the camera is tough and takes good video most of the time but taking photos is a total crap shoot. The auto modes often end up with either uneven exposures, far too much motion blur, excessive glare and flare, or just look overly grainy. The numerous 'scene' modes just don't work well. I've spent quite a bit of time trying to make this camera work. After a couple of hundred photos (and only about 10% of those any good at all) I'm sorry to say that as much as I've tried to love this ...

Just picked up this camera - 4 days into our vacation in Cancun and it's dead. Water got in past the seal and fogged up the lens and the screen and that was it. I will be taking this back. Too bad. It was a fun idea, but clearly poor execution.

Most of the reviewers on here are avid forum posters. Talk badly about product and the people on here jump on you like you are preaching against their religion. Trust me when I say, don't listen to the other reviews. This camera is ONLY good for a very fine line of usage. Serves best sitting on the shelf. Video quality is HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRIBLE. I dont know what people on here are talking about. Especially the guy that works 'in the industry' lol. No wonder why tv/movies SUCK today. ...

The AW100 is my first "tough" camera. It feels very durable, the GPS feature works well and the video quality is very good. All of the advertised features work and the camera handles quite well. There are a few issues with it: 1. The image quality is not very good at the pixel level. The images show strange artifacts, as if the JPEG was over compressed. However, the high-quality JPEG mode shows almost no improvement. It's almost as if the sensor is not really 16mp and it is scaling up the ...

I was really excited when I bought this camera at Costco in Hawaii, with a 4GB card, and a nice little case! However, now that I am home, I've looked at the images in Lightroom, and I am horrified! When I went to set up the camera (and I did read the FULL manual PDF), there was NO place to select image quality/compression. You can only set the size of the image in pixels! I didn't think this was possible, but over and over I looked for a setting for this, and there wasn't one! The images ...

Cons - This camera has very bad firmware or software. 90% photos are all flooded white. If you use flash for indoor, the pictures are all white. The camera does not focus most of the time. Moreover it hangs lot of times. While clicking zoom, sometime it gets locked to one view only. The indoor video are very dark and most of time out of focus. My Samsung Galaxy Note with 8MP camera and 1080p video does 100times better pictures and video than this $350 camera. This expensive camera was a ...

AW100 does everyting I bought it to do. Find 288 test photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/charlieflynn After you open the box print the users manual immediately. If you can't, Staples or Kinkos can for around $27.00US. The Sweetheart Auto mode is designed for beginners. The Auto mode is where more advanced users want to shoot. Scene modes can be very handy if you understand the limitations and things you can not control. Blury pictures on Flickr are from trying to handhold at very slow ...
