Opinion: Mini-Review:
Amazing Macro
Zoomrange extendable from 24mm to 230mm with adapters
Lots of manual controls possible.
Uncompressed and near-uncompressed modes available
Compact and storage efficient shape
Problems: Problems:
Barreldistortion and pincushion distortion significant but can
be eliminated with Photoshop plug-in.
Compact Flash door opens easily, can be fixed easily.
No selftimer in Macro Mode.
Opinion: Excellent macro. I love the ability to adjust the white balance. Very solid feel. Love the accessories, esp. the fisheye lens and able to sync out to external flash.
Problems: Limited availability of acessories. Nikon should have printed the manual in black and white rather than include it on CD-ROM. Flash is a bit overpowered.
Opinion: Fabulous macro, handy size,
useful low-light capability.
Very good all-rounder.
Problems: CF door/tripod mount not ideal.
LCD unusable in bright light.
Opinion: The Nikon CP 950 sets the standard for present state of the art digital photography for cameras in a reasonable price range. As someone who has come up through the ranks in the past seven years with digital cameras, the 950 is clearly a revelation. Minor problems such as the memory card door and minor barrel distortion certainly do not detract from the incredible resolution and versatility of this significant advancement in digital photography.
