Opinion: my first digital camera and what a suprise. worth every penny and have enjoyed every picture i have taken with it.
the body and control buttons are very easy to use easy to reach while taking a picture. and very nice picture quality it is 1.2 megapixels but very nice color quality.it was alot for my first camera but i made the right choice and very happy with the outcome.
Problems: it has a lot of features and i am still trying to figure them all out. other then that no problems.
Opinion: The 900 was and still is my first digital camera. Being a graphic artist, I enjoyed the picture quality delivered by the Nikon which in its day rivaled most others on the market (within its price range). The ability to add wide angle and fish-eye lenses allowed me to extend the investment and capture unique photographs.
Problems: The complexity of the camera was a distraction at times and made it difficult to share with others even to simply take a group shot with myself included.
The timeout to auto-shut off was set at 30s which was too fast. The option to extend the time actually didn't work! The time between REC and PLAY modes is excessively lengthy and zoom was slow and sometimes gets "stuck".
Last point; every time you put the batteries back in, you have to reset the date and time - this is very annyoing.
Opinion: i fell in love with this camera, picture quality is absolutely fantastic, brightness was amazing easy to use
Problems: had two replacement cameras, nikon not very quick at repairing. Main problem, batteries died within seconds whether brand new or rechargable. At the end of the day i am very sad as this camera is wonderful and takes fantastic pictures, now am dishearted due to battery problems.
Opinion: Owned for 3 years - ups and downs.
Construction problems over time became a pain. The pictures always under exposed in bright light under all settings. I had to force over exposure in manual mode. Colors would be too flat in shots with bright colors.
I love the twist design which means you can take pics from waist level and don't look like such a tourist :)
The Auto-focus works great so photos are always crisp (given the resolution).
There are plenty of add-on lenses which really add to the experience of these cameras.
Problems: The body fell apart at the 11 month mark (the halves separated) but still under warrenty then and repaired promptly. Developed a problem where it wouldn't turn on at random (not related to battery strength) which got worse and more frustrating. Then the zoom started playing up - would not zoom out sometimes.
Pictures are usually underexposed in brighter light and colors are flat.
