Problems: I bought my Coolpix 885 in March and hardly had time to use over three weeks before it broke (pictures outside were completely over exposed). Sent for servicing and eventually got it back one month later with very little information about what was wrong other than "zoom mechanism replaced". Then three months later same thing happened again and yet again I have had to send for servicing and they still have it! I have also asked them for a new camera or my money back which I doubt ...

Very nice to handle, can pull it out and get a shot quickly.. Problems: Skin tones are lacking, lots of red in med-low light.

Returned after 7 days. I returned this camera after 7 days. For several reasons: 1.) The Red. I really doubted this was going to be a problem, I was a complete skeptic after viewing all of the online photos closely. But when I began looking at pictures of my dogs (Weimaraners) that should have been grey/brown there were red blotches all over them. No amount of gamma or color adjustment was going to fix this. My dogs are my principal photographic subject. If it can't get their color ...

The camera was simple to use, but all digitals are tricky to get into another mode quick enough to capture a picture. The 885 took a long time inbetween pictures, especailly the more pictures already taken. I had to learn to turn the camera on when I THOUGHT I might want to take a picture, so that it would be ready to go, otherwise, a long wait. Problems: BUT I have a comment for all others with arthritis. Most digital cameras are small and hard to hold and handle for those with bad ...

I am a very experienced user with many types of cameras. Have used the 880 over a year. Excellent quality photos. Anyone who wants to produce excellent prints on the average printer can easily do so with these cameras. Problems: Warning.. The body of the 880 and any others using this design has an inherent flaw that can cost you. The very small piece of plastic into which the battery compartment locks can easily break. Mine did so and now my expensive camera is useless because there is no way ...

2000+ Picture experience... This is an excellent camera, regardless of the problems listed below. It is small, fits perfectly into your hand, as if it were an extension of your fingers and will easily disapear into any jacket pocket. The buttons are in exactly the right spot. After a short time of getting used to it, you can control the camera without looking at the buttons and using only your right hand. It is an excellent solution for a novice to amateur, giving you both an excellent Auto ...

Nice camera, takes an excellent picture and the 'scenes' really do help in quickly adjusting to any picture situation. Works well with the add-on telephoto lens. I'm surprised more people don't mention the slow startup time and e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y slow response time to deleting pictures on large, full-ish memory cards. I found that, with a 128mb card that was about 1/2 full, it took the camera about 10 seconds to startup and sometimes as much as 20 seconds to delete a picture. Problems: Slow ...

I have had my 885 for 3 weeks and paid $420 for it. So far, I believe that you cannot beat this camera given the price, size, features and number of pixels. Yes, it does have some problems, mainly red saturation and some noise, but all digital cameras in this price range have some problem. So far, I have not encountered any problems with pictures from this camera that I cannot solve with the manual settings or in PhotoShop. Problems: Red saturation is a problem, but it can be fixed to some ...
