Takes great photos until you use the flash. Most flash photos come out way too red. I can fix this in Paint Shop Pro, but it is a pain. If it had white balance adjustment in auto mode I could probably fix it, but it is only available in CSM mode. Apart from that it works brilliantly. Problems: When in Copy mode in Scene, the camera never focus's properly. After one year and 2000 photos, the Li- Ion battery dosen't last too long anymore. Takes too long to start up and too long a wait between ...

Problems: Well, I suffered the dreaded "System Error" for the last time this weekend. Now the camera is frozen and so I sent it off to the dealer to be repaired/replaced. With any luck, they won't be able to replace it and I can get a refund. A Google for "Nikon Coolpix 885 System Error" gives pages of this same sort of problem.

Ok ... I have used the 885 for a couple of months now and feel more confident in my ability to review it. My opinion? One excellent camera for the price range! Everyone has complained about the richness of the reds, however, by adding an extension tube and a "haze" or "Daylight" filter, the reds calm down tremendously. The flash on this unit is superior to most in its price range adn the ease of use is superb. Considering the number of these cameras that have been sold vs. the number of ...

I bought this camera for just under £200 and paid £35 for the extra li-ion battery and 64mb compact flash. The sales person even gave me a lithium battery to use the camera staight away. The red issue mentioned by other owners is there but the overall picture quality is great. I looked at the Ricoh rr30, because of the speed and price of that camera. The Nikon is just as fast 'even in low light', and the handling is better. It feel right in your hand. The functions are nice for beginners. I ...

I will never buy another Nikon as my 885 crashed a week into ownership from new with the dreaded System Error message and everything frozen. It was replced under warranty but the 2nd one has developed the same fault one month out of warranty and Nikon will not replace it FOC. Readin users reports on the web I see this is a very common problem. The camera has not been dropped, knocked, got wet or been kept in a humid enviroment. Problems: Both 885's I've had from new broke with the same fault ...

The camera seems to be solid. It has a good grip. It has plenty of features. So I am looking forward to my next holiday. I sure need to read the manual, but do not mind to do so. With my first digital camera I am having some problems to get the right focus. The lens is sometimes a bit buzy. The image quality is oké. For now, I did not find the money to buy me a 5mil pixel. Maybe later. I was happy about the price, I hope that Nikon will continue selling this camera. This because most dealers ...
