Opinion: It's a good camera. Period. But I compare it to the Fuji 4700Z, which I bought at the same time (only one to keep!). The camera squueks, feels cheap, makes weird noises, and just looks like a toy. BUT, it is a great point and shoot Digital Camera. (when do we get to stop using the word "Digital" in front of camera?)
Problems: The build quality.
Opinion: Just have the 775 for a day or so & frankly was surprised how small it is. But once I got into the menus & other features I was impressed. The menus are very similar to my 990. Very easy to use & pictures are very good. Like the lithium Ion rechargeable battery. Wish my 990 had this feature. Overall, considering the price & small size I believe I'll be taking the 775 on the road more than my 990. Bob
Opinion: Poor image quality... had serious optical viewfinder issues. Very easy to use. Size seems as small as S110 despite 91% greater volume. Excellent grip and battery life. Macro good too. Image sharpness and quality are important to me, so I'm not sure if this camera is really Nikon material.
Opinion: Well, it takes great pictures and sure is plug-and-play, but a lot of serious
issues plague this camera.
It looks like it was designed at the last minute. The traditional Coolpix
handgrip looks really ugly on a supercompact camera. I wish they had
opted for a rectangular case rather than the abstract one they chose.
The camera looks small, but feels heavy. The zoom is nice, and the
battery life is excellent, but since it broke (I'm overseas... no more
pictures for the rest of the trip *sigh*), I'm really disappointed with my
purchase. I had my heart set on a Canon Digital Elph S1xx-series camera,
but they didn't have the S110 in stock and the sales guy said the Coolpix
was a better camera and that, when they came out, reviews for the
Coolpix 775 would blow the Canon away. Turns out nothing was true,
and I intend on returning this trash and getting myself a Canon Digital
Elph S110.
Heed my advice and stay away from this camera.
Problems: Unreliable, frustratingly SLOW, bad pixel on viewfinder, charger fried in
France even though the adapter is rated for higher/lower voltage,
international use
