Opinion: This is one sweet camera... I've played around with the production model for quite some time now. Assuming none of the spec change... it will be a wicked camera. I for one am counting the days till it's release
Opinion: Wow!!!! Significant improvement over the 5000. Better glass, Shutter lag is virtually unnoticeable. Love the updated controls on the camera. Thank god they put a control wheel on the camera for different shooting modes. Makes it so much easier to learn no more carrying the manual around with you. Macro is awesome!!! Wide angle is doable with 28mm starting point I am very pleased with this camera. BTW I think the focusing ability of this camera is one of the best on the market it this class.
Problems: NONE
Opinion: I am looking forward it.
Opinion: I spent several weeks gathering data about the 5400 in order to compile a notebook to help me decide which camera my wife and I would give a grandson for his high school graduation. This new CoolPix won "hands down." Thank you for all the effort dpreview puts into providing photographers with the best, up-to-date reviews and opinions. Our grandson and his teacher were thrilled; I will send you details as they are relayed to me. My only disappointment is that the 5400 looks and feels so much like the 5000. Would like a little more weight and "feel" to it. The features(I've read the book) are a quantum leap ahead; good for Nikon!
