Opinion: Just saw a 4300 - nice little camera - BUT - hey Nikon, where's the shutter and apperture priority modes?? Best in the hands of a true amatuer who doesn't know the difference between shutter speed and f-stop.
With appeture and shutter priority modes, this would be a great camera - especially when considering the software bundle that Nikon is including with all their digicams.
Opinion: Overall, this is a great digital camera. Good resolution, easy to use.
Problems: It seemed that the camera keep focusing once it is ON and make a lot of noise. Could stop it by disabling the monitor (LCD). Heard is the same for all Nikon Digital Camera. True?
Opinion: Although the camera is lacking shutter and aperture priority you do have some control over these settings. The camera lets you dial in your desired shutter speed and aperture (unfortunately only few steps) at the same time while showing you when the picture will be over or underexposed. I do miss the priority function, but am otherwise very happy with the functions provided (e.g. BSS-Best shot selector, Scene Modes etc.) The picture quality is superb. Very clear, sharp pictures with realistic colors. The camera may not be as small as some of its competitors but personally I prefer a camera that feels like a camera in your hand. It is still very small, the perfect size.
I ordered the camera for $408 online. This is an incredible value for a camera with this picture quality and functions.
Problems: Like many people have mentioned with the 885, the 4300 also has a noisy Autofocus.
I would have preferred a black design like the 885 as the silver seems to scratch more easily.
The LCD screen should have been provided with an anti-reflective coating, but at least you have an option to order an anti-reflective LCD Hood (HL-E885) which I have ordered but not yet received.
Opinion: excellent camera. well worth $418. for 4Megapixels. i can really can tell the difference from my canon s200, sony s75, and sony f505v. recommend to everyone.
Problems: no strap for the lens cover and needs a case.
