Opinion: this camera has come a long way from the 3100 with the faster shutter speed (1/3000), thw bss for the amaeur, and now including sound for the consumer that likes to do videos. i think this is a great camera

Problems: me personally i don't like the internal memory, for processing i find it much easier to just bring in the s.d. card then to have to download the images to my computer and have to either email them to a sotre to be developed or burn them to a cd.

Opinion: good little camera, great features, I bought this one due to the unlimited (by memory card) video mode. Infrared asssit lamp is a nice plus and ease of use makes it great for novices. Now if it was as small as the pentax optio s, it would be perfect. of course, if the optio s had some buffering and unlimited video capability, i would have seriousy considered it, but such is life. hard to go wrong with nikon.

Problems: I noted focusing noise picked up by the microphone in the video record mode, but after reviewing the manual, found it states to set the focusing to single mode, not continous autofocusing mode as the microphone will pick up the focusing noise. Did this and camera worked fine.

Opinion: Nikon have finally got it right with this one- and I should know - I've been through more cameras than I care to mention on the quest to perfection! At last a package that combines everything you need without being over-complicated doing it. A decent movie mode with sound, although if you are that keen on movies buy a camcorder - but its nice to be able to take short clips now and then. IT USES AA BATTERIES!!! no mega expensive special batteries that die after a year... At last Nikon have got rid of those bendy pin compact flash cards and gone over to SD/MMC. (Not the cheapest but the most reliable form of storage I find). A nice easy to read menu - when you have less than perfect eyesight a great help. Superb macro capability without the flash overpowering the pix (KONICA /MINOLTA ARE YOU READING THIS!!) Nice sharp pictures with no chromic abberation (OLYMPUS ARE YOU READING THIS!!) One review site commented on the noisy indoor images but I found none to speak of. A good general all rounder which should please the first time user plus the more hardened not so easy to please person like me as well. Well done Nikon keep up the good work - will keep Fujifilm with their noisy interpolated image sensors on their toes!!

Problems: Shame the casing is plastic but you can't have everything!!
Screen difficult to see outdoors.

Opinion: Bought this camera (Coolpix 3200) for a vacation to Europe during which I
wanted to travel light but still be able to get some decent photos. It performed
well, but does have some bugs.

Pros: Good size for carrying in jacket pocket, briefcase, purse, etc.
Relatively quick start-up time
Modest shutter lag, for point-and-shoot sort
Good menu set-up
Excellent options for white balance, exposure accomodation/bracketing
Fair-to-good job detecting blurring of shots and warning of same
Good macro capability for modest point-and-shoot
No noticeable chromatic aberration
Uses AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable)

Cons:
LCD display hard to read in sunshine
Slow image storage speed, resulting in delays for next shot
**Camera occasionally "froze", refusing to take images, allow changes in
menu selections, etc.--always outside; seemed to have to do with autofocus
feature. Required turning camera off, then on again, and occationally repeating
this process after each shot.
Plastic body and construction feel too light and inconsequential.

Problems: **Camera occasionally "froze", refusing to take images, allow changes in menu
selections, etc.--always outside; seemed to have to do with autofocus feature.
Required turning camera off, then on again, and occationally repeating this
process after each shot. This was VERY frustrating.
