An interesting product! I bought mine just before Christmas 2013 and recently took it on holiday where I took about 750 snap-shots. I have just about got used to it after having SLRs (film and digital) for decades. The Leica M is very different from a DSLR - I have had to remember how to take photographs properly: to remember to focus; to set the aperture and consider its effect on depth of field; to remove the lens cap! This may make me seem like a complete duffer, but bear in mind that ...

Extraordinary product, had it for some time now.  Would not miss the video - might be alright - I do not know - will maybe try it later.

Having had the M6-TTL and now the new M, I can say without a doubt that this is an amazing camera, and the first digital M (in my view) to be worthy of the Leica name. (The M8 and M9 had too many issues to be worthy of the price and reputation that preceded them.) I also shoot with a Nikon D800E and Fuji X-Pro 1 (and had the X100). I tried very hard to use the D800E and X-Pro as a replacement for the Leica, trying to justify that the price of the Leica just wasn't "worth it"... Well, I can ...

I had  this camera for about a week now and this is the second one. The first one was dead on receiving  (half- dead) with the electronics for metering all messed up for the LV portion while the rangefinder mode is fine . So the camera was taken back to the Head Distributor for a replacement on the second day after I received it . Oh by the way, they are all fresh out of the box and carton from Solms. The reason why I changed to the M 240 was the infamous cracked sensor while under warranty ...

I plan to write a more extended review in due course on my blog, but I thought it didn't hurt to post some impressions here. So when I ordered the M240 off the back of a demonstration I was happy. I was less happy when various negative comments appeared on DPR and other well known internet sites. Slow, quirky, terrible AWB, terrible IQ/worse than M9, out of date prior to release seemed to be the major complaints. I considered cancelling my order and wanting to see what the rumoured FF Nex ...

Rather disappointing.Leica made the fun and easy to use M9( (and previous non digital Ms) complicated, cumbersome. and not fun. In fact, it's not really an M camera. In terms of results, generally speaking, I failed to notice any qualitative difference in prints; even 33 x24. I sold my M9. What a mistake.

Fantastic camera. Having had all models of M camera, from the films Ms through recent digital models, this is the best of the lot. I didn't think I'd like it, as I felt Leica had sold out on some of the traditional M features (and I still don't want video on any camera), but having been using this beauty for 3 weeks now, I'm blown away by the images and the features. Although a Leica traditionalist to a large extent, I've even bought the EVF2 and I'm very impressed with what it brings (but ...

Significant upgrade for Leica as they transition to CMOS sensor. Low light capability drastically improved from M9, but still begin to get noise much over 2400 iso. For fast Leica lens this more than enough and I rarely go to 3200 iso which is still very useable. The LCD is now on par with most other brands. The live view option may appeal to some, but I feel it defeats the rangefinder experience. Video capability is also added. I never use it, never will, and can't comment. The processor is ...

See the related article and video at http://www.cinema5d.com/?p=17037 Leica M type 240- video review. (Non of the written here is relevant to the photo section of this camera) Deep into the 4th year of the HDSLR revolution Leica released the M 240, their full frame camera costing $6950. Spending a day with the camera left me wondering, was Leica ever talking to any professional cameraman before implementing HD recording for this unit or just decided to “join a trend” without really meaning ...
