I brought my new Leica V-Lux 20 - a compact digital superzoom with built-in GPS tagging - on a fly fishing trip to remote Ontario in June. It seemed like a good place to put this new little marvel to the test since we were going to have to portage to get to our base camp, meaning - food supplies and fishing gear (cough) had priority over heavy camera gear. First, the negatives; the Leica batteries don't last long so take a stash with you, especially if the out-house lacks charging power like ...

Good P&S. Best photos are obtained on full auto mode. Intelligent modes really work, in a surprising way. Great zoom range. Image stabilizer works well. Pocketable. Problems: Noisy sensor. Could be better. GPS drains battery. White balance not working well. Must be improved. Once in a while there is a tendency to shift the colour blue to a somewhat greenish tint. Lack of RAW. Probably that may be implemented with new firmware.

Love this new little Leica... It is light and easy to use. The GPS function is nifty. I compared shots to the panasonic zs3...Leica won hands down... Problems: No problems...however it is tricky to set up the GPS after reading instructions over and over..We got it down pat...Had to take it outside to pick up a signal
