You will be hard pressed to find a more versitile camera than the D-Lux2 or LX1. I needed a copy of Elements for my laptop and the extra warranty was well worth paying the extra for the RED DOT! Problems: No problems, images have one heck of alot of detail!

I just took this camera to Berlin to put through its paces. I have used other digital cameras so I have some experience. I found this to be well built (so far nothing has dropped off or broken unlike my Ixus 500 after little use), easy to use and gives excellent quality pictures. Takes a little getting use to without a viewfinder as on autopilot you find yourself holding to your forehead! Then having felt a complete dipstick, you hold it carefully as there is nothing to jam it against to keep ...

I have been using this camera for 2 weeks. Incredible features, Image quality is Excellent. Problems: 1. Yes. there is noise in some low light conditions like all other point and shot cameras. 2. A little bit expensive. But, It is Leica. Top of the line. Distinguished, classic and quality. I paid for it.

Almost perfect small camera!! The camera has received a lot of criticism from people who've evidently never actually even seen it, but the more that i use it, the more i've come to love it. It's maybe not the best camera for casual point-and-shoot, but as an enthusiast's compact, the camera rewards with truly beautiful images. Write time for RAW is much faster than other 'owners' have stated on these pages: down to around 2 or 3 seconds with a faster Sandisk card. In fact, the camera is ...

Bought this one after having variety of Canon, Nikon and Olympus semi-pro digicams over the years. JPEG quality is dissapointing in low light, but I was aware of that beforehand. I'm using 1 GB memory card and shoot almost exclusively RAW and I'm happy with the results. Lots of detail and good no-nonsense colour. I've set contrast, sharpness and saturation settings to LOW and noise reduction STD. Post process w. Photoshop CS2 RAW plug-in. Problems: Screen is not that great evaluating the ...

I suppose those criticizing this ''gem'' never hold one in their hands, and, by the way, I just checked the samples on Leica’s website to find 2 excellent shots, extremly sharp and detailed. Great camera and especially great lens. But it takes also a great photographer to get great shots; my humble opinion...

This is my fourth digital camera. I like the minimalist lines of design. The 16:9 format is very welcome compared to the usual format 4:3. Also a good wide-angle lens; distorsion remains acceptable. Easy to use and RAW possibility. The optical image stabilizer prevents blurred images in most situations. Good colour reproduction. The LCD is sharp. ISO setting mostly used in auto mode with good results. On 10 x 18 cm prints I do not notice noice. The software package is also a bonus. Up to now ...

I have been a very keen user of digital photography for the last 8 years and I feel the progress made over the last 2 or 3 has been exceptional. Regarding the D-Lux 2 it is a superior camera, fully loaded with features to enable even the most demanding of photographer full control over his photos. Construction wise the camera is perfect, the camera software is brilliant, the photo quality (especially when taken with full resolution) is exceptional and the ease of use is also extremily ...

I love this camera for what it is. It is a great photographic tool. The design is excellent and if you take photograph a certain way this camera does a good job. Most manual controls are logical, typical for Leica. Handling is quick. Screen is beautiful. Lens resolves a great amout of details. Raw takes about 2 seconds and it generates a jpeg as well. Manual focus works and one can pre-focus and it decreases the lag time for taking a picture. Different aspect ratios come in handy ...
