Opinion: I own one for already six months; has a beautiful LCD image, quite good print
quality, intuitive and easy to use functions. But...almost useless if you do not
own an AC/DC adapter.

Problems: Definitely not practical to use outdoors with AA bats; two 2000 mA
rechargable batteries last less than 40 pictures using flash; batteries lose
charge in less than 24h; with a CRV3 battery things work better, however is
much more expensive and therefore useless; in a clear and sunny day is quite
dificult to visualize image on the LCD screen;you must have an AC/DC adapter.
Dificult to focus in varied conditions; quite slow to focus; quite long delay
time between photos.

Opinion: I do not recommend this camera, though it has a lot to recommend it. It was, in fact recommended to me. It is (was) my first digital.

It has a huge screen, which is great.
It takes NI-MH AAs (but eats them like popcorn, see below).
It has 4 MP rez.
It takes movies.
It fits in your pocket.
It's cheap.

But don't buy it.

Problems: My two problems were battery life and a button that failed to work after only having the camera for a couple of weeks.

On the battery, the LV4 ships with a non-rechargable lithum battery that will get you through the initial playing with the camera, exploring features, and your first 20-some shots. After that I substituted rechargable Ni-MHs which the camera promptly consumed, even when not in use, and most ravenously in cold weather. It so happened that I would take the camera out of my bag at an opportune time and find that the batteries I had only used briefly were dead. Warming them would help, but only a little.

I found the battery situation so onerous that I intended to return the camera, and then one of the four directions on the multi-directional controller stopped working and that was it.

And one last thing: the tacky blue light on the front of the camera that lights up when you turn it on and take pictures is gross. Who designs these things? I was embarassed to use it.

I plan to get an SD100, S400, or EXZ4. We'll see how those do.

Opinion: I use a Pro Digi SLR but I purchased this for my wife who just wants something simple to use. She absolutely loves it! It is a simple camera w/o all the manuel settings. Mostly just a point and shoot camera. I was very impressed with the image quality at 4mp! The camera is very small but still easy to use. Very few "little buttons" to figure out. The menus are straight forward and user friendly. The viewfinder is a little small but she never uses it any way. What she LOVES about the camera is the 2.5" LCD on the back. It is so much bigger than most DigiCams. It is really clear and much easier to see everyone's expressions. Whenever she takes a pic, it seems the camera goes from person to person all looking at her photo. The large LCD certainly adds a level of fun when you use this camera.

Problems: With its small size and with our heavy use of the extra big LCD, it uses up lots of batteries. Fortunately, the L4V uses 2-AA batteries and not expensive ones that only fit one camera. I suggest purchasing a battery charger and at least 4 rechargeable batteries - 2000a or higher($20-$30 all in all).
