Camera worked okay initially, but started to have some issues. The lens assembly is constantly extruding and retracting, even when just doing file transfers. Body is not full metal, and as noted, the lens cap tends to break easily. Problems: Mostly with Minolta customer support see the following link for details: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/a.wirtz12/minolta/Minolta.html

Bought this in the UK for £247.00 (jessops price match). I've had about 3 weeks and am really happy with it. Great value and has lots of manual functions that I was after. First thing I did was to ditch the 16meg card and get a 256 and then bought 3 sets of 2000nimh rechargables (this camera *eats* batteries). Then I got a some lcd protector film and stuck on and bought a skylight/uv filter for it for. Fuji CF card = £42.00 Lcd Strips = £3.00 Batteries= £20.00 Kood UV filter= £8.50 Have got a ...

A very nice Digital Camera!!! So far, Ive taken over 1000 images with my camera. The battery life is excellent and the menu system on the camera is exceptional. I used to have an Olympus c-4000, but It was a used model from circuit city and it had some problems(focusing, Colors, etc). Eventually, I bought this camera after it broke when my brother knocked it off the shelf. I am very happy with the quality of the of the images from this camera. The Miinolta Company is really good and I ...

Nice little camera - though maybe little isnt the right word. It's a bit chunky and wont fit in your pocket as easily as some others. It's also fairly heavy, so if it does go in your pocket you'll know it's there. Apart from that, I'm quite happy with this purchase. I've used it in all sorts of places and it's never failed to give me some sort of reasonable picture, though sometimes, indoors, the flash can fade around the edges of your picture. In outdoor daylight situations, I've yet to see ...

Physical looks are good as is the physical size. I like beefy cameras and this one was fine. Usage of AA batteries is great. Problems: Horrible autofocus results. Even on a tripod I had a ratio of about 50/50. Manual focus not much better. Moved to a Canon G5 despite the G5's problems, and haven't looked back since. To be fair, my Minolta may have had a focus problem, all of them may not share the same affliction. Image quality when in focus was fairly flat. I had to run all photos through ...

This is a good camera, it takes wonderful pics. the battery life is good (I can fill 256MB and more with one set of 1600mA Ni-Mh batteries, no flash) but after three months of use, I have encountered a major problem... Problems: the autofocus sometimes misses even under the best dayligth, and if you are in low ligth conditions, i.e "nigth club" or a party, simply you CAN'T use the autofocus (because the camera don't have AF assist. light. For that cases I use manual focus with 2 meters ...

At under $400.00, the S414 is a great buy and can give excellent results up to 11x14. The controls and menus are well placed and logical. The camera fits nicely in your hand and has the feel of a conventional 35mm camera. The on camera flash is of limited range and the lack of an external flash sync is missed. Problems: Auto focus is "twitchy" in dim light, and manual focus on the LCD is next to impossible.

As most of others did, I purchased S414, because of its low price with features. I am not too excited with it, yet not regret either as " One Penny Means its Value ". Problems: I experienced all as others did: Hard to use Auto Focus under low light condition, yet not easy to use Manual Focus through LCD; camera " blocked " sometimes when battery is low and it turns on easily as its switch is too loose; color seems a little too whitely blank sometimes .... My advice to those who are ...

Sending the camera to Minolta Digital Repair center today. Problems: After 2 months and 2 days of the purchase of our Minolta DiMage S414, the camera completely defected. First, we thought it was a battery problem because the camera powered off without warning. We charged and replaced batteries. The camera then produced various error codes. Now it does not take photos with the flash turned on. We also noticed indoor quality is very poor. Unfortunately it is 32 days past the date we are ...
