I returned Minolta F100 as it was slow and did not do well in low light. I like G500. Very good camera. Excellent outdoor images. Problems: - Red Eye in flash pics - Batter indicator not accurate. It showed full and went down to 0% saying you don't have enough ... Missed some good opportunities as didn't have a spare battery.

The g500 is a lovable little piece of machinery and electronics. From macro (sharp) to wide-angle scenics (sharp, with subtle detail and accurate light-metering) to candids, I'm a fan. At an almost dark Hallowe'en party, the autofocus was a real performer, even without a light-assist. For those who don't want flash unless it's really needed, do what I have, and turn the flash off. The light-sensitivity is great, and produces subtle indoor shots with accurate colors in ambient daylight, and ...

Against the stated policy of this forum, others who do not own this camera have posted reviews. Since they have not been removed.I feel complled to add...I don't own this camera, but the test reports at www.dcresource and www.steves-digicams both give this camera superb reviews. In addition the British publication "Digital Camera Buyer" also gave the camera an excellent review. I would dismiss those negative comments that show a ONE for image quality. Give me a break! The reviewer lacks any ...

This camera is a tremendous value. I bought mine from Buydig.com for $327.00 delivered. The images are exqusite and need no manipulation most of the time. The image quality is equal or better than my Sony 707. It comes with a very useful software package. This a great all around pocket camera. Problems: Due to the metal construction, it is little heavy at 8 ounces. The quality is worth the weight.

I own this camera. My brothers son wouldn't use it and gave it to me in exchange for my Vion MP3 player. A good trade indeed I used it and it's not bad but the image is a problem. It is fast however and well made but I need a camera that takes quality images and this just doesn't do it. I'll stick with my 450/550 combination (I own the 450, my daughter owns the 550). Shots vieweable on my website if you want to see. His camera was not defective as it was tested by Konica. He has since bought ...

The previous reviewer probably got a defective product. I did not encounter any of the problems mentioned. This is my third digital camera and by far I am very impressed with the results. Image quality is excellent in its entire focal range from wide angle to zoom. Macro shots are also very sharp and detailed. I absolutely love the solid construction and feel of this little camera with big features. Problems: None ... thus far.

I was very disappointed with this camera. The other reviews on this site made me suspect that it would be a great little camera for my wife, as I always seem to take my Sony DSP-9 wherever I go (I've been very impressed with the DSP-9). I'm surprised that anyone could like this camera...perhaps the other reviews were written by Minolta employees with stock options? ;) The construction of the camera is impressive, with an all metal body that has a good heavy, solid feel. The startup time is ...

The good: solid design. Fairly quick to power up. Good for pocket use -- lens is protected by the cover, which generally won't slide easily in your pocket. Great picture quality -- provided you know how camera behaves (i.e. the flash range, shutter speeds, you don't shake the camera when you take the shot, etc). I like the options and the features. That is, for even a somewhat experienced photographer it will be easy to set the needed shutter/aperture settings. It's you get what you set ...

Got this after reading jim's review. Very happy with it. Small, sturdy and great photos (comparable to or better than the Oly C4000 I had). Lacking some manual functions, but understandable. The ideal point and shoot with some control. I only wish the 2 user settings were as easily accessible as the My Mode settings were on the Oly. For the price, the Canon s400 and Oly C50 don't come close. [small camera comparisons] This will hold me till I get a digital SLR to replace my Canon manual ...

My major complains are: the camera doesn’t have a hot-shoe. The AF is not as fast as my F4 and F5, sold it sometime ago, and it is too light to me. The focal length is limited, I have lens from 17mm to 300mm. The flash is not as powerful as my Metz 60 CT-4. It didn’t use film and problems like that. But other than these things, it is sure one of the best digital camera in its class. The out-of-camera JPEG is just amazing, so I don’t have to do much in Photoshop. My friend just got a G5, and ...
