I had owned the DiMage Xi for a few years and absolutely loved it. I used it for everything from family parties to shooting surfing, wakeboarding (both in a waterproof case) and snowboarding. For the most part it worked out well. I was hoping that I'd get even better performance with the DiMage X1. 8MP, compact design, and a history of use with the DiMage line lead me to this purchase and, honestly, I couldn't have been more disappointed. The size, ease of use, and availability of memory ...

I don't like this camera because of the shutter lag. Yes, this great looking camera can take very high quality image, but it has a major problem. There is an annoying delay from the moment you press the shutter to it actually takes the picture. The delay is getting worse in low light situation or taking shots of moving objects, such as kids or pets. Nine out of ten photos taken in that situation are useless. So, if your main use of this camera is to take still subjects, this camera produces ...

The camera has excellent features and is easy to use. But--if you ever expect to use it outside of the USA, do not buy it. See below. Problems: I have been a very happy user of a Dimage X1 for three months. I used it extensively on a three week South American cruise trip and took about 800 photos on a 1Gig and a 512 Mgb memory card. I have edited them and narrowed the pix down to about 400 of fine quality. While on this trip,I was able to recharge the battery on the cruise ship each night. The ...

Heres the deal. Used the XT a TON. the XT has quick startup and 400iso. crucial! The X1 seemed to be one of the coolest cameras when it was announced. 8.0MP! wow. anti shake, big screen, and it looked shiny and polished. I got the camera and it was apparent that it was lacking. 1. because they have the anti shake they removed the 400iso, leaving you with 200max. terrible. i fell into the trap. i figured that because the anti shake would balance my hand movement i didnt need the 400iso. ...

After using Minolta since 1988, somehow this loyalty stuck. With the Dynax 7000i & 500si SLRs in my cupboard, my first foray into the folded optics of the Dimage series seemed promising. My ex-stable of the first Dimage X (2MP) and then the Xt (3.2) seemed antiquated when the new X1 (8MP) debuted this year. What all the previous 6 reviewers commented were correct. The shutter lag was excruciatingly slow. Picture quality is also on average, especially when compared to my aging Olympus C700UZ ...

Poor image quality - photos not sharp - even with image stabilization. Photos are soft, with noise. Long shutter lag. This is unacceptable quality. I was so looking forward to this camera. It had everything I wished for in regard to features. It was the perfect stealth camera for candid photos. But no. Picture quality killed the deal. Long shutter lag inhibits candid photos. Darn. Minolta, I love the A2. The X1 is a disgrace. I was so looking forward to replacing my Canon SD500. The ...

I was eager to own this camera after being very happy with two earlier Minoltas, Xi and Xt. Eight MP and image stabilizer suit my style, the non-extending lens is desirable, and the size is perfect. I was so certain it would be good that I ordered an extra battery and a one gig SD card. Too bad. They all went back. MAIN shortcoming: I couldn't get a picture that looked sharp out of it. With or without tripod, stabilizer, bright, dark, flash, they all seemed to be blurred one way or another. ...

Having owned previous Dimage ultra compacts and been pleased I eagerly looked forward to the X1 and initially thought it was great. But then I used it the first time to shoot at an outdoor fair and the shutter lag time was unacceptable. I would snap when there was a gap in people walking by but the photo would have a person right in front of me. I returned the camera for a different brand with the same features and less than half athe shutter lag. Problems: Unacceptable shutter lag.

I could not wait to get this camera and at first I loved it's size and its workings. The camera is ruined by the fact that none of the connections are standard. Problems: I'm on my second camera and this one also has connections problems. This camera uses non standard connections and you are forced to carry all the cables to use this camera. Why they didn't use standard USB is just unbelievable. How nice it would be to charge with a USB in my car or connect to a computer by USB instead of ...
