This digicam is a little gem. Lens quality surpasses Canon or Nikon cameras in similar group and it has an excellent macro facility along with a brilliant LCD. A recent UK magazine gave this camera 90% rating with the message (quote) 'The noise control is the best I've seen on any digital camera including SLRs costing eight times more than this one'. I think other manufacturers could learn a lot from Konica's overall balance of optics, CCD and image processing. Problems: None to date

Just bought it and can't believe the quality of the pictures. The highest setting is unbelievable but, of course, takes up a lot of memory. Even the mid range setting produces a great shot and uses considerably less space. Haven't had a problem with the red eye as some others stated yet. Flash filler seems quite adequet even in very dark areas, did notice some washout though, the idea about the tape will probably rectify that(thanks). Definitely recommend this little camera for either a ...

Small compact and light weight. Usage is simple as well. For basics photography, this is a pretty good camera. In terms of value for money, probably one of the best. Problems: Used for a few weeks, none so far.

Images show high contrast and therefore sharpness and resolution seem to be near to the results of actual 6-MP SLR's. Very easy to use, very (!) quick startup, few main features can be choosed (white balance, meatering modes Center-weighted average and Partial, Exposure compensation and also AE- and AF-Lock). Excellent metering at indoor-shots! Good Lens, visible distortion only at wide angle! Good Macro, good TFT-Monitor, even in sunlight! A real every-day-point-and-shoot-camera, just like it !

While the Konica is an excellent camera it's ability to shoot MPEG video is limited by a difficult access process compared with the Sony P9 I have (I also have the F707, f717, p3 and p5). The fact that it can take both Memory Stick and Flash is pretty cool. Problems: Low light focusing can be troublesome. Flash can be harsh or out of balance.

Excellent digital camera. Light and compact with almost all you need. Very good macro pictures. Changing between color and black&white pictures possible. Good nightshots. With 256 MB SD-card I have always enough space. Problems: Flash makes pictures "hard". Maybe covering with tape (see other suggestion) will help. I will try it.

I used the Canon G2 and Canon S-40 (both 4 Megapixel) and in the Konica's own class the Olympus C-50 \ 5 megapixel but this little baby does have the best photo quality. Very sharp, noisefree pictures; even after blowing-up in Photoshop the quality stays fine! I guess Konica uses a special kind of image-processing. Tip: put some non-transparant sellotape (it's diffuse and milky colored) over the flash, this produces images with a nice\soft light. I'm also very interested in trying the long ...

Nice compact size, rugged and great for travel. Photo quality and ease of use seems good. Part of the reason for selecting this camera was simplicity. Easy to use, even for those who don't read the directions. The menus seem fairly straight forward and easy to navigate. Even the file downloads seemed easy and quick. Additionally, I found that outdoor photos in bright light yield excellent photos. The KD500Z only stores files in JPEG format. I'd really like the option for uncompressed ...
