Own it this cam and purchased to explore the newer Kodak products as the last Kodak I owned was the P/S Z950 (Loved this cam). I will start by saying I love the Scheider/Kreuznach lens's Kodak has used (my old PK880 is still in use) and the image/color quality is fantastic. I have taken some incredibly detailed landscapes with great resolution for a 14MP cam. As the header says this cam has a great zoom range with no focus issues, great color capture and on manual or Auto gets solid results ...

I bought my Z981 a few months ago. I'm still learning to exploit its many resources. However, the results I got did not disappoint me. Sure, I knew I was getting a non-professional camera ... So, my assessment is favorable. The Z981 offers interesting results and has many nice features for a machine of this price range. I pointed out 4 stars.

The camera has many options and it may put off some people by getting acquainted with it, I know you got used to your old camera and its settings !!!.... I'm still learning about it's full functions and the more time i spent the more I love my Kodak Z ! My most intentions were to use it for panoramas and occasional HDR, well I'm not disappointed at all ! I love the fact that I can charge my batteries and easily shoot over 500 pics with them or record 2gb of videos. I simply could not ...

While this fits your hand like a small DSLR, it is cheap feeling and doesn't perform that quickly in focusing or in burst mode. The colors are okay but not as good as my actual DSLR camera. Even the burst mode is faster on my better camera. Switching settings so that a decent photo comes out takes far too long compared to other Kodaks I've had in the past.
