Opinion: The Z7590 is loaded with features, and is easy to use. It has not only full auto, but many, many selectable modes, plus apterture priority, shutter priority and full manual. There is a simple exposure overide and flash compensation method.
The 10x zoom lense is a pleasure.
I use this camera successfully not only with Windows, but Linux, using gphoto2, both with and without the Easyshare Series 3 Dock.
Problems: Flash pictures are somewhat dark, and fade around the edges. An external flash is an option on this camera through the use of a connector cord, not a hotshoe.
The lack of image stabilization is a problem at higher zoom levels.
Opinion: I purchased this camera after suffering a broken DX7440, and found a great deal on this one ($300). I got this one for the MP upgrade and the continued use of kodak accessories, such as same battery. Lense is great, and also easier-to-use function wheel.
Problems: Auto focus almost always misses in dim/almost-dark environments, even when flash is used. The 7440 did a much better job. Also, the images show the dreaded "watercolor" look between 75% and 100% zoom. Shutter delay is slightly worse, too.
Opinion: I have had this camera for about a month. It takes great pictures with or without the flash and the printed pictures have very sharp and vibrant colors. LCD screen is clear and can be used in bright sunlight. Battery last for a long time and even my wife says that it is eay to use.
Problems: A little slow to process pictures if you are taking them one right after another.
