Opinion: Shutter lag made this camera a poor choice for candid shots of the kids so I returned it, other people I know have not complained about this so maybe it was just my camera. Otherwise good value for the money, image quality is good and has a good range of features. Continuous shooting is disappointing though as it only keeps the first 5 or last 5 images.
Opinion: I've rated this camera "excellent" value for the money after picking one up for $139.88 (limited offer while supplies last at Wal-Mart) Decent camera! Shoots good pictures and movies and is a fun and easy camera to use. I would rate image quality 4.5 if auto focus was a little more consistant in low light. Excellent up-close shots when within the range of the flash and best overall shots outdoors or in controlled lighting indoors. If you can find a Z730 at this price... I'd say go for it!
Problems: Just the ordinary focusing and image quality problems with most digital cameras in low light situations. No big deal really because, overall, this camera hits more than it misses when it comes to good shots in general. I'm pleased with my purchase... can't beat the price!
Opinion: This is my first digital camera although use 35mm and 6x6 for over 30 years. I was very impressed initially and this has not changed in the 6 months I have used this camera.
For the money it gives great results and I like the optical viewfinder as it remionds me of older cameras, plus easier to use in the sun than the LCD (which is also fine)
Problems: None
Opinion: Very handy and easy to use. Excellent picture results. Nice to use when I leave my big cameras home
Opinion: This is my second digicam (first was a Canon Powershot A70). Bought this one when my powershot broke because it seemed fairly similar but more durable. Only features I miss are manual focus and macro focus range (the Z730's macro doesn't let you get all that close). The auto white balance is significantly better, though. Overall I like it.
Problems: My biggest complaint is the file write time, which is a bit slow for regular shooting, but is atrocious in burst mode. After taking a burst (even if you only take 2 shots, rather than a full 5-shot burst), you must wait a VERY long time before doing anything with the camera. Definitely not recommended if you want to capture any kind of action.
Opinion: Kodak makes excellent point-and-shoot cameras. My first digital was a Kodak DC3400 2.1MP (four years old) and it took great pictures. It still works great and I gave it to my daughter. This new Kodak Z730 has a lot more features, 4:1 optical zoom, 5.0MP, and even the ability to shoot video. They just keep adding more features and, amazingly, lowering prices. I love this new one and it shoots EXCELLENT images. I did add a small metal key ring to the hook hole on the camera and added a lanyard for better security. It can hang around my neck. I don't trust these wrist straps that come with the camera. I also own a Canon digital Rebel SLR EOS 6.3MP. This Kodak for me is a smaller point-and-shoot, and that's what I wanted. Shoot in the auto mode, or with any of many other modes. This is a great camera, good features, and good buy.
Problems: The user booklet that comes with it could be better, with more complete & helpful information. Even the Kodak website PDF file could be improved. Even with that a new user will do fine.
Opinion: I have this model since 2 months- I took about 2000 pictures and over 90 % of them seems to be good and very good quality:) It has a very good lens with 4x optical zoom that's excellent. Thanks to the manual settings you are in charge to do anything with this camera- it has also very short snap to shot time. I recomend this model for every begginer-it is much more than canon models
Problems: I didnt spot any cons yet :)
Opinion: This is my 2nd Kodak digi camera and I really like this one. In my opinion it takes excellent photos at t he highest quality level and decent photos atthe medium quality range. The video feature works way better than expected and the battery life is outstanding for a rechargeable. The 32mb if internal memory is sufficient and the flash lighting is adequate. Over all I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to take excellent high quality "point & shoot" images at a very competitive cost. I bough mine through Dell and I paid for the camera $255 and bought a 128 memory card for $15 .....also one thing, my wife is a simple camera user (she likes to just turn the thing on and take a photo) in auto mode she can do just that and the shot turns out great indoors or out.
Problems: The on off dial is hard to turn and the camera is easy to drop. The little cord that holds the camera is delicate and hard for a man's hands to hold onto. I recommend purchasing a kneck strap and use a lens cover or a camera bag to prevent dust, dirt and moisture form entering through the openings. My only concern is I am afraid it could bust easily if dropped and that would not be good :)
