Opinion: This camera takes good pictures in dark conditions and the use of the camera is good. I like the 12mp because the camera I had before was 8mp. It does seem to make
a difference to me. Most people says megapixels don't matter. I have had no problem with noise and I seem to be able to capture moving objects great, as I take alot of animal prictures.The crop and perfect picture are an asset.
Problems: The batteries do not last as long as a rechargeable battery but rechargeable aa batteries do much better and I brought a car recharger. The problem I had is the camera locked up on me 4 times, as the pictures increased. 10 pictures no problem 300 pictures or more camera locked up. Also the lens locked in the out position and I had to carry it back after having it for 2 weeks. i bought another one
Opinion: I have one on order from Kodak, and just thought I'd include this note from Kodak:
IMPORTANT
We recommend that you do not use alkaline batteries in EasyShare cameras because they may cause unexpected shutdowns and loss of pictures.
Which might explain the trouble one of the reviewers was having with his Z1285. I'll post a first reveiw as soon as I get the camera.
I've also switched to the Eneloop NiMh batteries on my C875, and they last for a very long time. As this is a 12MP camera, I'm also going to buy a BIG SD card. 1MB is OK for my 8MP P880 or C875, but not for this beast! ;-)
Opinion: This is a very nice camera! I purchased it 3 days ago, and brought it straight to an airshow.. This camera performed extremely well while taking pictures of both slow moving biplanes, and fast moving F-16's flying overhead. (which I was very surprised about) Video recording is great; the audio capture while recording videos is also great! I am using a 1 gigabyte SanDisk card, and can only get 273 pictures (on an empty card)... I almost filled the card in a single day, and had to change the setting to a lower MP (usually 6MP), which in a way, defeated the purpose of paying for a 12MP camera. The performance in daytime was fantastic except that it was sunny, and I couldn't really see the LCD screen due to the reflection. (This is true for almost any camera so I didn't take off for it) At nighttime, the pictures weren't too bad, as long as the flash was turned on! The display is good, but a-little grainy.. I don't mind it because once the pictures are on my computer, or developed, the graininess disappears indefinitely... The zoom is very good, as long as you use optical zoom, and not digital... I was a-little disappointed on the battery life. They only seemed to last about 6 or 7 hours.... I'm not as satisfied with this camera as I intended I would be, but it isn't enough to make me want to return it.. It is nice, but not perfect....
Problems: I did not encounter any problems while using this camera.
Opinion: A bargin at $150 + rechargable batteries + memory + tax =$217, still a bargin. Pocket size and lightweight. Can take excellent pictures in daylight using a tripod. I like the HD video. Turn-on and processing delay is one or two seconds, about right for 12 MP.
Problems: Kodak's immage stabelization is a really bad joke if you expect a 12 MP picture. Handheld, the best I can do with room lighting is 2 MP. Kodak's technical support responds in about 24 hours but with canned answers that don't answer the question. This camera eates batteries like popcorn unless you use 2000 mah rechargables or better.
Opinion: My wife and I purchased this camera to take with us on a trip to Seattle. We where attracted to the camera, because it had 5x optical zoom, used SD memory, small, easy to use, and price was right. We found all the above to be true. We found the camera captures great color, maybe to good of color to be true. This was the first digital camera for my wife and she found it easy to use and likes the feel of the camera. Having ISO settings up to 1600 was nice, but gets noise in dark pictures. However, noise in dark pictures is normal with most digital cameras.
Problems: The camera does have some serious problems. The camera is hard on batteries. We took 845 pictures with the camera while on vacation and used 26 AA Duracell Alkaline batteries. Since we purchased the camera the day before leaving for vacation we did not have time to charge a lot of rechargeable batteries. The most serious problem we encountered was that the camera locks up occasionally. We encountered this 7 times and had to remove the batteries to get the camera to work again. Another problem we found was the digital noise in the view screen on the back of the camera. When looking at the view screen in low light or various other conditions, the picture in the view screen is very noisy. However, once you capture the picture and review the picture the noise is gone. The noise in the view screen was very bothersome at first, but we got use to it. I found the noise in the view screen and the camera locking up to be unacceptable and will be returning the camera.
