Opinion: I bought this second hand after waiting for the price
to come down. It is a small camera, it can be be carried
in the pants pocket or the jacket pocket. The body is
metallic and feels firm and rigid. The 23mm lens is
glorious - it has huge depth of field and does not need
to focus much. This means the camera responds to
the shutter release trigger quickly. The in-camera
panorama stitching is fab as well - with good
technique, you can even pano scenes where people
who slightly move. Colours are nice, the quick EV
adjust is nice. You can nominate some settings to
persist.

Problems: There are significant flaws but they don't worry me
especially if the price is right and the camera is
pocketable.

The second mid-tele zoom lens is slow to focus, slow
to zoom and sharpness is not great. The camera uses a
high compression ratio in JPEG which is a pity - the
sensor is 7 Mpix and deserves better. Flare on both
lenses and significant image noise above ISO 100
means that low light, high ISO shots with some direct
lights are difficult to accept.

Enjoy the camera for its wide angle and get it at a
price you like

Opinion: This is one of the most beautiful digital compact cameras ever built. It's all metal square shell and refined looks are stunning. I did not buy its 5 megapixel earlier version - the V-570 - because of the poor quality of the picture: Kodak over-processes and compressed the images into tiny files (rarely did a file reach 2 MB of size), very noisy using any ISO setting above 200. The 23 mm lens also provided very soft pictures and with litlle detail; it's also a fixed focus lens and nothing that is closer than two meters will be focused. Kodak changed the sensor to 7 MP this time, and I honnestly thought they would have improved the camera's picture quality. Sadly, it was not the case. This would have been a camera to last and please people for years and years. I feel so disappointed with it that I rarely use it. Shame....

Opinion: The V705 has taken over most of my DX7590 tasks. An excellent camera with great
features. Image quality is very good and the 23 wide angle lens is fantastic. This
camera requires the user to understand how to use it, so read the manual.
Regarding image quality, which is very good, there are three sharpness settings
(High, Normal, Low); I usually use the High setting. If a super sharp picture is
needed, then some post-editing works fine. The camera does not capture a super-
sharp photo for a reason: it is difficult to un-sharp in post-editing, thus a slight
stepdown to a "High" or lower setting permits a type of picture that is more
pleasing, without sacrificing editing options. I have NO complaints at all and am
considering buying another as a backup if mine is lost, broken, or not current.
GREAT camera!

Problems: absolutely none

Opinion: 3 features make this camera stands out, 23mm lens, Panorama and MPG4 movie. I can shoot 2 hours movie with 2 GB card and they look great. Also, you can zoom while taking movie.
You can also take panorama shoot and the camera will do the stiching. This make it great for panorama shoot.
23mm Means a lot of fun when going out with friends.

Also I found this camera very easy to use. Unlike all other digital camera, you can do exposure compensation without getting in the the menu. (This is about the only thing I would do with a compact camera)

Also the ability to save the previous setting make this camera much better then V570.

Problems: Image quality is not very good, especially those from the zoom lens.

You need an extra battery if you are going to do a lot
of movie.

too much noise when ISO got over 200.

Opinion: Disappointed - expected ease of use and picture quality from Kodak and didn't get it. We bought this camera for the 23 mm wide angle for my wife's real estate business and because it fits in her purse. The large screen is nice. That's the best I can say for it. She thinks it's cute, but has to call me every time she wants to download photos.

Problems: Controls: The V705 doesn't follow industry norms, so it's difficult to figure out controls for the camera. We've owned 8 digital cameras and I've used dozens more; this one's the strangest to learn.
Downloading Photos: Forget the cute camera dock and EasyShare software; use a memory card reader. Windows can't find the camera in the dock; Kodak software is ridiculous, even it can't find the camera.

Opinion: Before bought this product, I used my Nikon 5700 for about 4 years and took a lot of pictures by it. As I found 5700's angle is such short I cannot take most of thing into one picture except taking pitcure for people and dogs, and it is too big I cannot take it anywhere, and it is slow focus, althrough it produces realy super-superb image quality, then I started looking for a new QUICK Focus, Compact, SuperWide Angle, Same Good Image Quality camera, it is SO HARD to find a such a camera with these Professional requirement but with Comsumer level size! Superise that so far no manufacture are think about this kind of product, and they keep producing garbage in the way of repeating similar models to another.

Then I found two product one is Kodak V705 and another is Nikon 8400, generally speaking, I am really regreted that I did not buy Nikon 8400, which has 24mm wide angle and superb image quality, but slow focus.

The Kodak V705 good points are, compare to other current popular 28mm wide angle at compact size with 130g weight, you will feel V705 is good quality, it feels quality, and others are garbage, it is reasonablely heavy, and feel trustable, build by metal.

Bottoms and menus are easy to use, it is good designed so that not much complicated setting for user who buy this kind of "toy" product, it is not for users who want high image quality.

The automatic length cover looks cool, is very well designed mecanics.

The Main thing of any camera, is image quality, due to the design of compact, the lenses are small, the sensor is not behind lenses, and also Kodak may used extremely high compress ratio on JPG then make the image quality is really really POOR, from my view, it is far away from my 5M pixs Nikon 5700, totally not comparable, the first time I saw the picture on my screen, I thought Kodak use WEBCAM's lense & sensor on V705!! They are comparable.

Image color is good, in most case it relect natural color, better than most previous generation product in most brand.

It has two lenses, I almost never use another one, always use 23mm, the focus of 23mm is fast, faster than my 5700, and most of other 28mm current popluar compact, this is second point this camera success besides 23mm. Start up is fast, you can take pic immediately after power on.

Flash is good, fast, and you don't feel the picture is lighted by flash.

Focus Assist light is good, otherwise this camera become dead in low light env, but in low light, it is high ISO, the image is almost totally unacceptable, thinking in normal condition, the high compress ratio make a image to be very noise, in low light, will be more & more noise!

The Kodak software is really sucks, they try to make thing fast and easy, but accutally make computer really slow, and some time no response, it is too big and mixed too much funtions nothing to do with enhance pic quality.

Bettery feels good, I have two, so no problem to use in most of day.

Generally speaking, this camera is ONLY for girls and kid, they can easily use it, take camera with them anytime, take pic anywhere for fun, record one fun second, but when you enlarge the pic into big size, you would not recogonize who is who. So I only use this camera for P&S, and mywife use it shoot movies for dog's fun, BTW, the movie it took is really good, no limit on length, at TV quality, I love it.

Things are good: 23mm, no one can compare except Nikon's 24mm; Fast start up, fast focus on 23mm; Compact size & easy to use; good movie.

Problems: Very very poor image quality, I am really superised that it had 5 points reviews on image quality, when I search Internet, there are some samples and review, most of them shows poor quality image. I would not believe how Kodak's engineer let such design out to production line and be available in the market.

Opinion: This is truly a sleek camera to take with you anywhere. The wide lense is perfect for point and shoot photography. Compression on the pictures is high, but it's not much of a quality issue - colors are good, and its jpg anyways. Plus you can fit an incredible amout of pictures in 1gb. Video quality is good.

Problems: Some usability trade-offs in favor of looks and design. The lcd-picture is very yellowish indoors. Some problems focusing. Some over-exposure.

Opinion: Phot image quality is good for this camera. I use auto mode in the day, and use Night Landscape in the house. The photo image is good in terms of RGB color brightness and skin tone. I like it.

Opinion: What drew me to this camera was the 23mm lens and it's size. My wife does real estate on the side, and she's always taking my DSLR to shoot homes. I get nervous because she doesn't know how to handle my DSLR, so I thought the Kodak would be a great choice for her. Besides, it's very tiny, large screen, so we could take it out on trips without having to carry my big monster and lenses everywhere we go. The other 3x lens is OK, nothing spectacular. Never took enough pics to test the battery. I bought it at Costco, so it came with the charging stand and a real nice carry case, for $280. The price can't be beat. The charging stand makes a very nice presentation piece, posing the camera backwards like a picture frame. THe kodak softwar is terrible. Windows didn't recognize the camera, such that you could just drag and drop pics into your folder. You are forced to use the weak consumer grade interface, which is slow and inpractical, and hard to use. I'd recommend a card reader instead.

Problems: The problems were in image quality. Indoor shots are just terrible. ISO is not selectable. Noise is very high, even at low iso. Unacceptable. Outdoors, I'd expect it to excel, but no luck. Image quality still bad, very soft images, out of focus. When you zoom in to look at the pixels on your computer screen, you can see a high degree of artifacts due to compression. In order to fit several pics in its internal 32MB memory, Kodak decided to compress the files so much that each is just over 1MB. For a 7mp camera, that is just way too much compression. My SLR produces 6MB files at 6mp in fine jpg mode. Heck, my 3mp casio EX3000 made 1.3MB files, and the image quality was excellent. The kodak doesn't let you select compression rates. Basically, this camera provides a beautiful package, most practical lens on the market, but falls very very short on image quality under any shooting conditions. I would definitely not recommend it. If you're looking for ultra wide angle lens, look at the Nikon 8400, at 24mm. Otherwise, find yourself a 28mm Canon powershot. I just finished packing up the kodak, and I'm taking it back to costco tomorrow....
