Opinion: Worked perfectly right out of the box. Regular photos come out quite good, even in low light without flash. Macro photos very good, especially at the 3.1MP picture size. Tiny subjects come out big enough to actually see! The USB connection worked perfectly on my WIN98 system. It treats the camera with CF card as if it were a disk drive! No more TWAIN nonsense and no more serial com slowness.

Problems: Nope.

Opinion: Have been looking for a Digital Camera for a year and a half. Recently shot hundreds of pictures with a Cannon S-20 and Nikon's 990. Each of these cameras have their high points, but when I read the reviews about the DC4800 I felt this camera was a compromise I could live with. An automatic mode that works well, and can be used with different ISO and metering options.
I find it intuitively easy to use which I could not say for the Cannor or the Nikon.
I love the saturated color of the pictures knowing I can shoot in the nuetral mode if I prefer. It shoots very good pictures inside with ambiant light but some noise with lower light levels. The color on inside flash pictures is also good.
I also like the compact rechargeable lithium battery. This camera seems to operate longer even with the LCD viewer being used often than did the Nikon 990 or Canon S20.
LCD view very good and usable even in indirect bright light.
The shutter button is well placed and has a positive feeling indent for focusing and the audio feed back is good on snapping.
The focusing mechanism is slightly noisy but alright with me because I can tell when it's focusing and when it's done.
The flash card is easy to remove and the little hooked edge is facing up where one can get your thumb nail on it.
The optical view finder is more accurate than any camera I've ever used.
Overall I am very satisfied but miss the tremendous macro capability of the Nikon 990. Oh well, can't have everything.

Problems: Focusing in low light is not good. Must keep an eye on the green LED to make sure focus is good. Sometimes have difficulty focusing in the macro mode on the area I want.
The camera lens barrel shows in the view finder at times blocking the lower right corner of the view finder.

Opinion: I have shot at least 60 photos each day since I had it two weeks ago. I love its 28mm equivalent wide angle zoom capability, saturated color, exposure compensation dial on top like normal 35mm SLR...

Problems: Sometimes I am confused with the power button and shutter button as they are pretty close to each other. I think that I need time to adapt it.
