Opinion: An old camera that was a good point-and-shoot for its time. It can take quite pleasing pictures as long as it manages to lock focus. It is remarkably robust. After 17000 shots and quite a bit of rough treatment it is just a bit worn-down in the corners. Powered by AA batteries, with good battery life if I keep the LCD turned off. Well placed flash, lowers the risk for redeye. You can take up to three shots rather quickly, but then it slows down to 15 seconds per shot. No special features at all, no movie or sound recordning or continuous modes.

Problems: Poor autofocus. No manual focus. Poor battery life if the LCD is turned on when taking shots. Poor viewfinder placement, my nose always hits the LCD.

Opinion: 1st digital camera. Wife bought it for me in 1999. It was stolen this year (2003). The camera served me well. For a point-and-shoot camera, it was great!
~ Sturdy body. Withstood a couple of small falls.
~ Decent resolution if you're just printing letter-size or smaller images.
~ PC s/w lets you control camera & it's settings from your PC desktop.
~ Was able to upgrade the camera firmware from my PC desktop. --Keeps camera software current as PC's operating systems change.
~ Fairly small... in baggy pants, it fits right in your pocket.

For a first camera, this was great. I would recommend it (unless you're buying it from the frickenfrack*r that stole mine!). Seriously though, if you can pick this camera up for $100 - $180, I would say grab it.

Problems: ~ Later models offer a docking station for easier image transfer.
~ Lens is pretty limited... can't get too close to subject.
~ Auto-focus only... you get what you get. Difficult if you wanted to focus on the bird in the foreground and you got the house behind the bird.
~ Not the best in low-light situations... grainy & dark images if you shoot w/o flash.
~ No video capabilities
~ No audio

Opinion: It is a great digital camera for point and shoot. The features are not many, but what it does, it does fine. I had no intention of buying a lomo, so this doubles as one. I carry it everywhere and it's sturdy enough to take the kind of use (or abuse).

Opinion: this is one of my four digital camera. this camera is very easy to use and takes very sharp pictures. buy small slave flash($25@ritz) for indoor/dark shootings. alway leave function selector to View position, when not in use. if power switch turns on inside case it will damage lens gears.

Problems: no problems so far. this camera is slow saving pictures to memory.

Opinion: After 2 years of use I'm just about to upgrade my dc to a better one.

Construction: very robust, not light, the best quality LCD screen I have seen so far
Features: almost no manual override possible therefore no room to play under imperfect light conditions
Image quality: the colors are impressing, landscapes on picture look better than in reality :-)
Ease of use: Kodak has done a good job on this one though this happens at the cost of 'features'.
Overall: I think overall this is a good camera for beginners.

Problems: Only pictures under excellent light conditions are good. I live in a country in which it's raining quite a lot and rain/fog is already enough for the DC280 to produce crap pics. Pictures at night are also a problem because the built-in flash is very weak and the DC280 has got a problem with focusing in the dark.

Opinion: I had used for over 2 years and taken over 10000 pieces photos. After compare with Nikon, Kodak DC280 got the best image quality, especially in the colour.

Problems: Some battery may not be used, otherwises it will made your DC280 hanged and dead for hour.
