Opinion: We got this camera for my 76-year-old father-in-law in Slovakia who's computer-phobic and never used a digital. (It hits the mark so well, I think we'll get one for ourselves.) Its large-type menus are in 25 languages (including Czech). And, if that's not enough, with the touch of a dedicated button you get extensive Help screens also in 25 languages. Combine that with very user-friendly design and just about anyone in the world could use all of its functions without the English-only manual.

In use, the large-font, 2.5" display, coupled with an actual optical viewfinder (remember those?) means you won't be blinded by the sun or have to squint to figure out what it's doing.

Ninety-five percent of my editing involves (1) cropping; (2) auto-levels adjustment, and (3) panorama stitching. The C653 will do all of this -- in the camera, ready for printing down at the drug store. I know of no other camera, at any price, that has all of these user-friendly, standalone Photoshop-like features.

The picture quality? It may not be a Fuji indoors (you will see a little noise), but it seems to manage its flash range well enough to produce decently exposed shots. Outdoors -- no problem.

All of this plus the simplicity of two AA batteries. You get VGA videos too, albeit at a reduced frame rate. And the Panoramas come out pretty good, too.

Problems: None so far.

Opinion: I bought this camera a few months ago after researching various makes & models. I am very happy with the product.
The editing software is amazing.
It is easy to operate.
The AA rechargeable batteries have taken over 240 photo's (not using the flash), & aren't flat yet !
The large screen is easy to use with an adequate pixel count (not like some others).
Overall I consider this to be a good camera in it's price range.

Problems: None

Opinion: For what it is, this is a good camera.

I bought it as a gift for my nephew for his birthday and took the liberty of playing with it a bit before passing it along. This way I would know some of the features and be able to answer questions if he had any.

This camera is purely a point-and-shoot for very casual use. It doesn't take the best quality pictures in the world but seems to function just fine indoors, where I used it for the most part.

The ease of use and value for money were key for me. I wanted something that my nephew would be able to turn on and use right away without having to sit and read a boring manual. And it's good for that. Very user friendly. And it wasn't expensive at all - I snagged mine for $115 (CDN). Perfectly within budget.

Don't fool yourself - this camera isn't about the best quality in the world. But value-wise I think it is a good deal and would recommend it to anyone on a budget.

Problems: My only big gripe with the camera is that it could FEEL a little sturdier. When I hold this one and I hold any of my other cameras - Sony Cybershot DSC-P92, Canon SD800 IS, Nikon D50 - I feel like I'm holding a real digital camera. The C653 feels like I'm holding a cheap piece of plastic. (Maybe that's what it is? Haha.)

Other than this the camera performs exactly how I would expect it to for something in this price range and ultimately am happy with its performance.
