Interesting camera. I've had this camera for a few years now. Bought it at Wal Mart on sale (I don't remember the purchase price). The camera takes good pictures but is rather tempermental. Eats batteries, and sometimes, the camera will not turn-on. The problem with making an unreliable entry level camera is, when people are ready to upgrade the tend to look to OTHER camera makers (hp should keep this in mind)! Problems: 1. Does not turn on sometimes. 2. Eats batteries at a ridiculous ...

I had this camera 2.5 years, then I have bought a Canon A60 (this was a redemption). - Excellent menu, perfect for beginners - Very compact: "just turn on and shoot" :) - Acceptable camera for family memories (if you dont want to develop pictures) Problems: - Very poor colors - Usually poor image quality (sometimes (randomly) can create very good pictures). I think this cam makes better pictures than "noname" cameras (Trust, Aiptec etc.) - Very slow turn-on (more than 10 s) - Needed very good ...

Fix for PS215 does nor store to CF after seeming to take picture. I have had the HP Photo Smart 215 since April 2001. Although I have had all the problems with short battery life, slow start up, slow to take a picture and downloads on the USB only works sometimes etc., I have managed to take quite a lot of good pictures. A year ago I got a good set of NiMH Acuumulators (RadioSchack 1300mAh) with charger for 50 $AU. These were recommended by a Tandy salesman in Australia. Since then I got ...

This was my first digital camera a couple of years ago. I was looking for a inexpensive digital camera with a lcd and my choice stopped on this one. The first day I openned the box, I put the 4 new AA batteries took about 20 pictures, ... batteries were dead! The manufactur said DON'T us rechargable batteries, but at this rate of consumption, I would spend $$$... on alkaline batteries. I decided to use rechargable anyway (not a good idea!, I don't know!). With 8 nimh rechargable batteries, I ...

Well, if you don't pay a big amont of money for a digital camera, don't expect superior quality! That's the case with HP 215. This camera is big and heavy (especially when you put 4 batteries in it).I'm afraid you've read it millions of times, but this camera is real battery killer.I use rechargeable ones instead and it works fine. The menu is extremely easy to navigate and 10 sec. timer and Macro mode are really good features. Optical viewfinder is not worth to trust, especially in short ...

I've bought this camera for $128 in early Feb '02, and I've been very happy with it (great value for the money paid). I share lots of pics with my friends from all over the world, absolute great for that purpose. I got 4 rechargable, 1600mAh that work great. Problems: none.

Got this camera about a year ago as a birthday present, but really started using it only these few months. The images are surprisingly good for a 1.3 Meg Digicam. Rechargeable batteries (at least 1600 mAh) is the way to go if you want to get the most out of this camera. Have not encountered any problems with downloading to my PC running WinXP. I got it for free, so I have no complains. This camera is really an entry-level camera, play around with it and get a better one when you have learned ...

I got this camera as a promo when I purchased a new computer. This is the first digital I’ve owned. I learned quickly to follow the recommendation to use NiMH batteries. It’s been a great learning experience (since I didn’t have to pay for it) into the world of digital photography. I’m hooked on digital and am using this web site (which is fabulous) to help me find my next camera. Problems: This camera has shown me I want one that will focus and record the scene ...
