Opinion: This was a fun camera for the money. It was a step above the typical consumer camera with some adjustments available (AV/TV preferred, etc) , and the 300 mm optical zoom was neat. Note that there was a digital zoom beyond that. I had mine for 4+ years and never had a problem with it. It did seem to eat AA batteries but I buy those in volume anyway. I've taken some beautiful shots with it and it did well, as long as you
(like any camera) understand its limits and didn't push beyond them. Mine was only recently retired when I upgraded to my Canon EOS 400.

Opinion: The HP was an average camera that captured good photos. It was easy to use and smaller than a 35mm. The voom feature was good but you have to brace the camera.

Problems: I had three of these HP's. The first two were replaced under warrantee, but that was expired when the third camera died. The first one failed (on vacation) when the barrel transport mech stripped. The second one could not take flash pictures right out of the box, and the third one failed in the CCD, also on vacation. Good camera when it works, it just is not reliable. Actually it's junk. I'm much happier with my Canon

Opinion: Bon appareil , bon zoom mais un peu de distorsion et de baril...

Très très convivial, menus clairs avec aide , pas besoin de notice !...

DIGITAL FLASH une vrai bonne chose que HP devrait renvendre ! ( Nikon a suivi .. )

Bonne construction

Opinion: I'd like to add my experience to the comments on the HP945. I bought this camera a few years ago and while I have enjoyed it and found the photo quality to be good, I just had the (previously mentioned by someone else) focus problem happen. Repair is not cost effective. I am not a heavy camera user -- kids' weddings, vacations, etc. so it should not simply be 'worn out'. For what I paid for this camera, I should have gotten a lot more years of use from it. I've always had a little trouble downloading onto my computer, but was always able to get it to work eventually . . .however, I think I've learned a lesson here. I will never purchase another HP camera . . . I'll stick with companies whose specialty is cameras -- such as Canon or Nikon.

Problems: Focus streaked, discolored and frozen. Happened 'out of the blue' -- no warning or reason to think anything was going wrong. New batteries, no change.

Opinion: After over a year of use and 13,000 pictures I still like this camera a lot. The digital flash is great, even though it adds noise in the dark parts. I find the optics good,
photos can be seen at http://www.usefilm.com/photographer.asp?ID=98961

It took some time to get to know all the benefits of the camera and how to avoid the weaknesses. I recommend the camera wholeheartedly, and am amazed there are several negative responses.
Probably there will be good chances finding second hand HP 945 at the moment!

Problems: - The camera is not fast, I guess I'll buy a different second camera at some point (probably konica minolta for the anti-shake) and use both cameras.
- recently I found that digital flash in poor light conditions adds too much noise.

Opinion: I've had this camera for almost a year. I didn't use a lot. Many pictures come out blurry, even with fast shutter times. Dark regions show a lot of noise. You don't have to think about shooting pictures with low light or inside. Besides that, the camera is so slow. It's just very annoying.

After all, I could have known. Never buy a digital camera of a brand that doesn't build analog camera's. My one was stolen last month and I didn't miss it a sec.

Problems: - Too much noise
- Unsharp images
- Slow image processing

Opinion: Uneconomically repairable product. Doesn't hold up to even minimal use. This is truly planned obsolescence. Too much money for a short lived item. One big rip-off.

Problems: Out of the blue, suddenly focus motor goes bad and LCD has streaky display.

Opinion: The CCD matrix died after 1.5 years of using this camera, I made about 5500 photos. The price of repair is about 70-80% of new camera's price. the camera works very slowly, especially zoom and burst. I would not advice you to buy this model.
Very bad and very expensive post-warranty service from HP, especially in Lithuania.
For people from LITHUANIA - prasau, niekada nepirkite HP fotokameru! HP atstovybes darbuotojai - patys mazai ka zino apie tas kameras.

Problems: Works very slowly, especially zoom. Very slowly writes the images to SD memory card. Camera's buffer (Random Access Memory) in one moment can contain maximum 5 (five) images, made with minimal (1MP) resolution and average compression. if you have made 5 shots, you should wate for about one minute, so that the camera could write images to memory card. The video films can't be longer than 1 minute.

Opinion: I bought this camera 1,5 years ago and made over 7500 pictures using it. This camera is great. Lots of features you can set manually and rather quickly to get the picture options you need, but..
It's PERFECT camera, if u don't look at it's size and look for a cheap half-professional camera. U may make such pictures, using manual settings, that u could make with other cameras.
It's PERFECT, working with VERY lightened objects

Problems: SLOW, LARGE, Too bad video quality and resolution comparing with other cameras u can buy for this money, u have only .jpg format coding, so u have no better quality format, like .raw, picture resolutions u can set only 1 and 5 Mpix, sometimes it's useful to set 3 or 4 Mpix (5 too large, 1 too small). Too noisy pictures, using the same options as, for xmpl, Canon cameras, also with the same options u need more shutter, than using other company's cameras (pictures are more blurry or dark)
