Opinion: Very nice features. 4 MP combined with an 8x optical zoom for under $500 is a steal. The camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. I take many outdoor/wildlife pictures so the zoom was the feature that really appealed to me. The auto-focus could be better and it certainly consumes batteries at a terrific rate but in comparison to other similarly priced 4 MP models you can't beat it.

Problems: I had to return the first camera that I took home with me because the color balance was screwed up. The display showed the image properly but when I snapped the shot the display showed red instead of full color. The pictures that resulted were also red. I read the manual to see if perhaps there was a color setting that I could return to default but the settings were correct. I returned the camera the next day and got a new one. I tested the new one out at the store and there were no problems with it.

Opinion: I have been (for two years) a solid FUJI fan.(2800) This is A CAMERA, looks and feels and sounds like a real 35mm. The pics are very clean, clear and crisp. The auto assist like is really nice. Took a couple snaps in complete darkness. THe light made the pic come out very nicely. WATCH this one if the price gets reasonable, it will be a TOP seller. I have had it TWO days, little trouble w/the menus ..aside from that.I LIKE IT!!! JIM COLE

Problems: Lens froze open , even when I turned it off. I qick call to HP fixed the problem...JC

Opinion: Great camera, and even greater value for it's money.
I had a Fuji 1300 and a 4900 before, and this is a far simpler camera to use: logical menus and commands.
The picture quality (as far as I have been able to test in the past three days) is great. I even started to like a digital zoom for the first time.
Powerful flash, good EVF and LCD, great lens, very good image quality, a nice (optional) docking cradle, nice and fairly small body.
I do miss a manual setting for aperture/speed and a 2" selftimer (only 10"). I would also appreciate a manual focus.
The reaction time after pushing the shutter button is also a tad slow.
This camera does not aim at the very demanding amateur (somewhat limited feature set) but more than compensates this by ease-of-use, image quality, great lens, very good price.

Problems: * I had one complete freeze of the camera (with the lens out) while I was manipulating the menus. I had to remove the batteries to get it up and running again. I was not able to repeat this however.
* The mpeg movies, although of a very good quality, have a file format problem for viewing on a PC. It does work fine for review on a TV set, directly from the camera. HP had a likewise problem with the 810, for which they released a bios upgrade.

Opinion: The quality of the pictures are really really good.
It suprised me a lot.
The zoom is also very good but after 7x zoom you must start thinking of a tripod. The photos start to get blurry because of the shaking of your hands..

Its really easy to learn all the functions. It took me about an hour to learn.
Nimh batteries are a MUST. Then you can enjoy several hours of shooting, zooming, and watching the lcd.
take 1800 or 1900NimH

Problems: Sometime the camera freezes like windows..

You shut it down and the light keeps on burning. Only solution is to remove the batteries and replace them.
Then after powering the camera on it all functions again.
This happend to me after using a/v cables for direct connection to the TV and just turning of the camera.
The light was still burning green and switching it back on did not help.. It really got stuck..

Perhaps a firmware update would do the trick
