Recently I have been comparing the two camera systems I currently own, and use regularly, a D700 with a Katzeye focus screen that I use with legacy lenses (35-70 2.8d and a set of 1972 AI converted primes) and a Fuji X-Pro1 with a 18-55 and a set of 18,35,60 primes. In the course of this long term comparison I have come to some interesting realizations, but that isn't the purpose of this post. I have found issues with the Nikon gear that I am trying to categorize as to whether a change in...
I tried to up-load the Ver. 3.40 to my X-Pro1 after following all the instructions but the message from the camera said: New Firmware not to be found. The version on the camera is 2.10 and when I reviewed the instructions for the new Ver. 3.40 it did not cover ver. 2.10 but ver. 2.05. Has anybody encountered the same problem? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Whoopi di doooooo!! The Fujifilm X-E2 also gets a December 18 firmware v3.0, adding Classic Chrome, interval timer shooting and WLAN remote control with use of the Camera Remote app. "The Fujifilm X-E1 and X-Pro1 (also available December 18) are provided firmware updates adding AF+MF control for all X-mount lenses". Can someone be kind to explain what this adding AF+MF means? What's different from what the camera does already? Is the X-E1 not getting the classic chrome film simulation?? Did...

I've installed the latest XP1 body firmware (3.30) and the latest 14mm lens firmware (3.10). But now I'm stuck with permanent manual focus despite the selector being set to 'S'. Why can't I set autofocus? It worked fine before the new firmware. What have I done wrong to mess things up? My 56mm still allows autofocus, if that's a useful troubleshooting clue...
Hi everyone, Im a professional graphic artist. Skilled in Photoshop, Illustrator...etc. Its my primary career. I am also a life long 'serious' amateur photographer. -Been shooting since 1980's old Nikon F series film. Over the last year or so, more and more friends and family have invited me to shoot their weddings, graduations...ceremonies...events. -And honestly, I know what Im doing -composition, planning... creating stories with my images, romance poses... bokeh... use of color,...
I've just bought a Kipon M42 FX adapter from eBay so I can use my Helios 44M and Carl Zeiss Jena DDR 135 on my X-Pro1. The adapter mounts on to the camera perfectly - nice and tight but not over-tight. Both lenses screw into the adapter fine, there is no looseness or play in the screw thread itself, but the thread on the adapter is part of a metal ring that is extremely loose. This means when I try to focus, the entire lens just spins round! There is also a lot of sideways play in it. I've...
Hi, I am a college student about to start an introduction to (black and white) photography this coming fall semester. I have been doing photography for about 3 years now. While I am definitely still an amateur and have a lot to learn, I do get very into the technical side of things and I spend most of my free time researching the field to learn more! Anyway, I thought this class would be a great opportunity to get into something that I've had my eye on for a while now: Rangefinder...
