Opinion: in fact comparing with other cameras it is the best with affordable price.
Opinion: Great Camera with usability far beyond that of normal point and shoots. Zoom range is incredible considering the cost to match its range in a DSLR system. The build quality is rather good considering the cost. The grip is deep great for big hands and the weight might put off the quick point and shooters but for the more advanced the weight adds stability in proper hands. The view finder is a EVF that displays 100% of the frame. The benefit of an EVF over and OVF is that all adjustments to shutter speed, aperture and exposure in real time for the photog to see before taking the shot.
Problems: Soft images in both RAW and JPG. Resolution on EVF is quite low.
Opinion: Nice zoom, AF slow
Problems: After a year the camera didnt write'to the memorycard, costs €200
Opinion: Excellent zoom. Good resources.
Problems: The quality of the pictures is a bit short of the mark Fuji.
But worth the purchase price.
Opinion: - This was the best super-zoom camera for me until the arrival of HS20EXR.
- Everything is perfect except for a slow-response but that is tolerable.
- With proper handling and knowledge, you can't go wrong with HS10.
- I can do difficult BIF, sports, low-light, macro. Name it, HS10 can do it.
- For whiners, know your camera first before complaining.
- It maybe slow in shot-to-shot delay and write times but that is tolerable.
Opinion: A must camera for nature lovers, a fantastic Zoom that works well, even hand held!
cannot fault this huge zoom lens camera...
A couple of "Silver Eye" bird pics in my Gallery to see... look at detail right into the eye, great auto focus and stability control...
Problems: None
Opinion: Lives up to the hype. Very good image quality. Incredible zoom range. Image stabilization really works well for full-zoom, hand-held shooting. Great video quality. Sweeping panoramic is fun and effective.
Problems: None yet.
Opinion: Many have reported on the HS10 on this site so in the interest of minimizing redundancy will only report on the what I consider to be the outstanding high points and the glaring deficiencies of the camera.
I was looking for a high quality still photo camera with as much zoom as possible. After significant research I decided on the Fujifilm Finepix HS10 for it's broad array of settings useful to an amateur such as myself and the superb image quality for a bridge camera. I am very pleased with this camera as it does the job I require of it. I considered a DSLR but realized I was not a pro and that for the features I was looking for it would cost a good 3-4 times the price of the HS10. I'd then be required to lug and change lenses. My short list included the Sony HX1 and the Canon SX20. It was very difficult choosing between the Sony HX1 and the HS10. I just considered the HS10 photos a notch better overall. NOTE: I DO NOT recommend the HS10 to people equally interested in using it for still photos and for more serious videos. Get the Sony HX1.
Problems: The video quality per se is excellent BUT as mentioned in Jerry Stevens' fine review of the HS10 on this site (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/read_opinion_text.asp?prodkey=fujifilm_hs10&opinion=45235) there is significant autofocus "chatter" in audio tracks particularly if one zooms alternately from ultra wide to full zoom. It sounds like a bunch of chipmunks during an espresso coffee klatch. The "focus chatter" is significantly minimized when performing minor zoom changes and generally where the focus circumstances are not continuously and drastically changing. Also, although I prefer the manual zoom for still shots, for videos it is extremely difficult if not impossible to get a smooth zoom effect with the HS10 even when using a tripod.
Opinion: Image quality of this camera, exceeded my expectations especially full zoom and macro capabilities. Watch out birds and bees you are no longer safe. Third Fuji camera in eight years and I am not disappointd although a few teething problems. Excellent value for money and the 30x zoom really gets those shots that were out of reach .Size and weight of the camera is perfect.
Problems: On off switch opposite from previous cameras.
LCD hard to see in bright sunlight (as with alot of cameras)
Battey warnings and batteries running down fast.
Manual focus took awhile to get used to and figure out.
No lens cap holder, no manual and no lens hood.
Other problems resolved after reading the manual.
