This is a great camera. Takes closeups well, and is very easy to use. Problems: If you use the viewfinder, your pictures will be off. I don't know why, since the lens is right over the viewfinder, but it is not centered. Also it does not take red colors well. Red flowers are just a mass of red. No detail. After 2 years, my camera quit working. The red light that comes on when you take a picture stays on, and then it won't turn off, and the picture is not saved.

This DC is good for beginner. Cross button gives you ease of use. I think ease of use is better than that of 1300. Problems: poor design.

I have taken some 3000 shots with this camera. Colors are very good. Pretty much noise (as with most cheap cameras). Good sharpness in the middle but less good at the very edges of the frame. Fine or Normal compression makes little diffrence. To control the shutter speed you simply trick the light meter at the front of the camera. This will give you some control. It´s a small and handy camera that you don´t have to worry about (because it´s so cheap and small). Problems: The serial connection ...

In the year I've had this (my first) digital camera, its taken some great shots. Color always very saturated. Generally very sharp for the resolution. Batteries last ages. Fits in a pocket. I've even successfully blown some images up to 25mb filesize using Genuine Fractals. This camera converted me to digital, but its time to move on to a higher res. now. Problems: Noise in shadow areas in extremely backlit conditions. Serial port is useless, get a card reader. One day the lens will get ...

Basically this camera appears to be OK in design and use. Until that is that you look carefully at the photo images on your computer screen. More often than not when using the camera with flash, some small smudges appear. This I believe is caused by air borne dust. The camera picks them out and they appear as smudges - sometimes (depending on where it is used) lots of these appear. Many of my photographs are ruined as a consequence. Problems: Only picture smudges

For close portraits this camera gives decent results but for subjects further than about 2 metres the results are almost unusable (compression artifacts even at the highest resolution). As an introduction to digital photography this camera just about suffices, but if you do decide to purchase it make sure you don't throw away the old 35mm. Personally I would recommend spending a little more on something like the MX2700. Problems: Tiny 2mb card.
