Opinion: Have had the camera for two years. Shot over 2,000 photo's. Excellent camera. Numerous photo's I have blown up to 8x11 prints and the quality is that of a 5+ megapixel camera. Have used it in all manner of photo snapping and I continue to be impressed. Bought extra lens with the camera, good quality with the camera as my old 35mm non-digital camera. Would buy again if I had to. Recommend this to any photographer from beginning to intermediate. Have rechargeable batteries (3 sets) and can shoot hundered of photo's on each set.

Problems: Battery low meter comes on to late. Have three sets of rechargeable batteries and have not encountered much problems . Dark light focusing assist is non existent a slight problem, however everything else more than makes up for it.

Opinion: I have had this camera for about 1 year. I think it is still the best digital camera that Fuji has ever produced. My images are easily as sharp and contrasty as any 5 MP camera I have seen to date. I can easily enlarge my images even at 3MP fine setting to 16 x20 inches or more. I have been amazed at the solid construction of this camera and have hit it against objects and it is still going strong. The lens on my camera is outstanding and I can produce images as well as any panasonic camera made up to 5 MP. My night scenes are good so long as there is some light. This camera does not have a focusing light assist so it is not operable in total darkness. Uses AA batteries and the New High Speed Compact Flash Cards help the speed immensely. It is totally manufactured in Japan unlike so many other digital cameras with headquarters only in Japan. I purchased another one recently.

Problems: I can live without the focus assist light for the rest of it's outstanding qualities.

Opinion: I've had my S602Z now for almost 2 years and took some great pics with it. The camera is very easy to use and most certainly helped a novice like me to take good pics. Unfortunately my camera fell into muddy water recently and is going to be replaced by a S5500. FujiFilm has won me over with the quality.

Problems: Power usage and battery life indicator coming on too late.

Opinion: I have the 602Z . . . I love all of the features and, after using the camera for awhile, I've discovered how to get around some of it's pitfalls!

I recommend it and the newer version S7000 . . . great cameras!

This camera is packed with pro features and can do almost anything that can be done with a pro film camera.

Problems: I also have a Panasonic digital with a Leica lens, and I've found that the Fuji lens is nowhere near as sharp!

The only other drawback to this camera is that every time you clear or format your memory card(s), the file number sequence always resets to '1'!

This is a PITA since every folder full of pictures has the same number sequence!

Opinion: I've had this camera for slightly less than a year and I'm delighted in all respects. Yes it has a lot of functions and capabilities and it takes quite a lot of effort to remember how to get the best out of it but, the AUTO function is exceedingly good when you lose your way.
I can compare it with film and pleased to say that this camera produces work that it just as good.
I've used it for movies too and provided that you have a decent graphics card and a tripod, the results will be excellent.
Battery life seems to be forever and I have gone on a two week holiday taking some 200 pics and never had to change the batteries.
I would not change this camera and it's performed perfectly without fault.

Problems: Sometimes I can't get it out of the bag quick enough !!

Opinion: This is the closest camera next to a DSLR. I've owned this for ever a year now and I couldn't be happier. Pictures turn out really great. There's so many functions on this camera that I'm lost but I'm loving learning about it slowly. Fuji really thought this one out with the ability to hook up an external flash via the adapter on top or through the sync. What an awesome camera. If your looking for something dependable this is your camera. Battery life on this camera is great, a lot longer than any other camera's that I've owned. Next best thing to film

Opinion: Nice camera for people who like fully automatic to manual cameras. The pictures are nice and crisp although when the camera is set for red eye reduction, portrates come out with red eyes and have to be removed via the computer, not that big a deal. The camera does not do well when backlight is needed when in fully automatic mode, it must be set before the picture is taken so when in a room with bright sunlight shining in the windows - beware, all will be somewhat dark.
Overall, after learning to use it (way different from 35mm SLR's), I would suggest this or maybe even the S7000 Z.

Problems: I had a 1 year old memory card give me READ ERROR! after 39 shots.
When I contacted Sandisk, eventually they sent me a new one. I'm wondering if the camera damaged the card in some way, maybe format isn't really format on this camera.

Opinion: This is my second digital camera (my first was a Leica Digilux 1 which still produces excellent results - see my review for this sadly discontinued model) and marks my move to a totally digital photographic user. The choice was based on much research to find a camera which would satisfy my needs as a natural history photographer especially in a close-up field. I have not been disappointed!

The results are stunningly sharp and the colour rendition excellent. The two stage macro mode works well. The central image magnification feature is very helpful especially for fine focussing for which I use the manual focus mode a lot. After an initial problem with the delay caused by the autofocus/exposure setting itself coupled with the viewfinder lagging behind the real subject, I have found that the 'half-press and hold' technique before actually taking the shot gets round this effectively. If using a shutter/aperture priority mode of course, this problem is lessened and using manual focus too makes life much simpler!

I find I have not used the microdrive storage media - I haven't needed to as the results on Fine setting at 3M are more than adequate for even A4 prints with a suitable printer and careful handling. I do not use the video mode as I have a separate video camera - it just happens to be there! Maybe such facilities are a bit of a gimmick!

Problems: As above - the delay and lag between what you see and what actually gets recorded if you don't think.

I have had two occasions when following the erasure of one or two individual frames, the camera shows a 'Card Error' warning and will not function. Re-formatting seems to clear the problem but you have to use another card to continue photgraphy unless you can download via a card reader to the PC at once. Not helpful if out in a remote place! Maybe this is a card error and not the camera?
