Opinion: Hi there, got the camera today. Used it quite a lot already, and it is, basically, the same as its predecessor, the S5500. Basic manual, ease of use, feels good in your hand, looks gorgeous.
The anti-shake realy works, i did loads of full 10x zoom with it and they look brilliant, no comparison the the s5500. The lens are fixed, and start up time is so short you don't even notice it coming alive! Shutdown is also a bliss. Consequently, the irritable noise of the lens on the S5500 (seemed like it was loose inside) has gone, due to the fax that the lens are now fixed in the tube. the widht of the lens cap is the same, 55mm, so any filters you had for the s5500 will fit on this one, including the wide angle/ telephoto lens.
This is an excellent buy if you are into Fuji cams. Going for about 250 quid, this is a certain winner. I'll carry on using it, and any probs i encounter i will be back here, to let you all know!

Problems: Problems...not really. The flash pops up automatically, unlike the S5500, where you had a button... And the camera cannot be used as a webcam, whereas the S5500 had this feature. This is the downside for me, really, as my S5500 was extensively used as webcam.
Package came with a 16mb xd card...fuji won't buckle, making you spend a few more quids on an extra card (although there are some 512mb out there for under 40 quid.

Opinion: Basically, I shoot and then print at 7x5 and 8x6. I have taken 30 test shots and had them printed on the high street and the results are good.

The colour is natural and there is good resolution.

The camera has a very similar menu to the F10 but even though it is capable of good high ISO shots, this camera does not persistently rack up the ISO level in the way that the F10 does - in fact the camera appears to use ISO in a very thoughtful way.

I'm using a 512 card, this gives me 206 shots in fine Jpeg mode or 46 shots in RAW.

I have not seen any purple fringing (which was present in my S5500 model).

this looks like a real good all round camera that is well worth it's money.

The camera does appear to be able to cope with the higher ISO's remarkably well.

Problems: the 16MB crd that comes with the camera is simply not an adequate starting place these days. However, even if they gave a 32 or 64MB card, you would still have to buy a more functional 256 or 512 card anyway.

Opinion: Fuji made an excellent new toy with all new features
For same range of 5MP and 10X zoom, this may be the best. I got mine the first week of October, this is my second Fuji with 10X optical zoom, I love my old S5000, but this S5200 has a lot more fun features. I have compared with the other two high zoom 5 MP cameras; the Canon S2IS and Sony DSC H1. The H1 may be delivers the best picture quality. But I love the Fuji color better. If you own a Fuji, you know what I meant.

The Fuji S5200 does not have Image Stabilization; instead, there is a new mode of Anti-Blur. It looks like better than Image Stabilization to me. I caught a flying butterfly with 10X zoom and the detail looked amazing! The super fast shutter lag time really helped a lot. And the camera only takes about 1 second to start up!

Another surprise is the camera works pretty good in very low light condition, much better than Canon and Sony. For a night view, it makes great pictures which only can be seen from my old SLR film camera with the setting of ISO 400. This S5200 goes up to 1600 ISO! And there is a green light Auto Focus Assistant Lamp, it also helps a lot for focusing at low light condition. But the light position is too close to the shutter, and can be blocked easily. I do not like the auto pop-up flash. Even auto flash can be turning off by the thumb; still I prefer the old type manual control flash. You push it when you need it.

Pict-Bridge is another fun to have, It woks great with my portable Canon i80 printer. But it would not communicate with my i70 printer. The Canon S2IS works on both printers. I wish all new DC have this Direct Print function. Who wants to wait until a PC is found?

Not forget the famous Fuji video for 640 x 320 VGA quality with 30fps. Fuji always gets the best video in the still camera field. Canon S2IS can be zoomed in and out when taking a video. But Fuji video is much more colorful and brighter too. Thanks to the Supper CCD and 1600 ISO, S5200 makes better video in high zoom and low light condition.

I got mine for $349.00 on eBay, which is about $150 cheaper than the other competitors.

Problems: Still a cheap look plastic body, occasionally it will be out of focus. I am not sure if my finger blocked the AF lamp? Mode Dial is too big and too loose, the mode can be changed by a soft touch without notice. The included small 16MB XD card is a big joke for a 5.1 MP camera. The 5.7X digital zoom makes more noise at high end, but it looks okay up to 3.0X digital zoom.

Opinion: As a long time user of Canon A-1 and Mamiya RB67 equipment, my search for a digital camera suited to my needs finally fell upon the Fugi S5200. I have not been dissatisfied. The pictues I get from it have the Fuji "bite" to them, colors are saturated and grab you, right out of the camera. The anti-blur works as advertised. Nice to shoot at ISO800 without the usual noise problems. Selecting a camea is always a personal and subjective experience. I needed a camera that could handle low light photography under varying conditions. I couldn't be happier with the S5200. It's accomplished everything I've asked it to do. And at a price that just about anyone could afford.

Problems: No technical problems that I've run across. I shoot Aperture controlled mostly for the larger depth of field it gives. So often my shutter speed will be lower and ISO higher. Most of my "misses" have been caused by my getting to know the camera. After a few weeks with this machine, I don't forsee many problems. My only 'nit' so far has been the strap holder on the right side is indented and made it difficult to use a standard camera strap because of its small size. I didn't like the strap Fuji provides.
