Opinion: PROS:
Full DXO software support for RAW and automatic lens corrections (sweet!)
Excellent build
Killer lens range
Tilting viewscreen
Manual Zoom for fast & accurate framing
Large sensor for decent (but not awesome) high-ISO performance
Memory card slot has dedicated access panel (makes cardreader use easier)
Pretty fast burst rate for P&S cam (also much faster than S200exr)
Comes with lens hood
Consistently produces great results
Digital zoom is actually usable at ISO100 or ISO200
SDHC Memory card support
CONS:
It's BIG
Viewscreen could be better outdoors (EVF not much better)
Lacks dedicated white balance button (like S200exr has)
No TTL flash support (single pin-only)
Built-in flash not as good as S6000fd
FSB mode kind of silly, would rather have another user preset space, instead
Video sucks, but you can zoom while recording
Manual Focusing kind of dicey
Problems: Like many cameras, RAW writing speed could be much better.

Opinion: Ive had this camera for 18 months now and shot about 4000 pictures.
It's certainly not an "easy to use out of the box" unit. You HAVE to practice and get used to it, but once you take the time and effort the results are stunning. Yes there are some problems with purple fringing, but not major. It's only in certain situations such as tree brances siloueted against a bright sky. There really are only a few pictures I have taken where it has shown up.
The zoom is fantastic with very sharp images, and wide angle is good. Focussing is fast and acurate. This is a great step up to learn about photography from a compact type camera.
I had the Pana FZ20 bridge before this. That was easier to use, but picture quality from this knocks spots off it.
It's practically as good as a dslr, but not quite, but then again nothing will ever quite match a decent dslr. Certainly if you get a decent dslr with a cheapo lens, the results can be worse then with the s100fs.
I've shot birds in mid flight, flying aircraft, wildlife, landscapes. I challange you to sensibly spot the difference between some of my shots and those from a basic dlsr. Yes if you want to compare it to £5000 worth of kit it wont match it, but otherwise it will certainly give them a run for their money.
Would I recommend the s100fs. Yes, but be aware it's not a full dslr, but far far better then any compact out there, but you do need to take time and get to know the camera!
Oh, do though go out and get a couple of spare (3rd party) batteries as they dont hold their charge that long.

Problems: Genuinly none apart from very rarely purple fringing.
Opinion: Thi Kamera is probably the best bridge, Fuji has ever build. More camera you need not really. I am all in all, more than satisfied.
Problems: The Lenshood is allready got something big, but necessary in order to avoid the scattered light it is better.
Opinion: I have had this camera for over 6 months now and can say that it is a very good camera. I also have a Canon Pro 90 is, Pro 1, 350D and a 40D so I can compare quite a lot. This is the one that I choose to use most of all. Not too bulky, good image quality, image stabilizer, hand held shots at 1/15 sec or less. One camera cannot have everything but this one is the best all rounder that I know of.
Problems: No real problems. The only negative is perhaps the 11Mp Raw files being far too big. This camera need not be 11Mp to have good image quality. Why not reduce it to 8Mp or less in future for better image quality especially low light shots.
Opinion: Nice piece of equipment, easy to use and a real bridge camera.
Problems: Some CA/PF issues (easily fixed with the proper action) at the wide end sometimes but that's all, I must be lucky :)
Opinion: Too much CA and the colors are not true. FS modes are a joke.
Opinion: I love this bridge camera, the best of the best, it is not a SLR but it is really superb. I even prefer this S100 over the new S200.
Hope Fuji on the next S300 keep the 2/3 sensor size used on the S100 and the 3fps, the 30 seconds shutter speed, zoom from 28 or less (24mm) to 400mm, I really don't need often the 400mm even the 300mm is rarely used.
Excelent camera this s100
(note: people talk of CA, but cheap SLR lens are have it even medium lenses have, so don't care about this)
Great value for money
Problems: None
