I've learned not to take reviews as Gospel, including the ones here on this site. Although it has a less than stellar review on dpreview, I handled the camera, took a number of test images, and have been extremely pleased with the results. Being a film and DSLR user, I wanted a pocketable camera that would give me decent image quality, and this little, well-made camera fits the bill nicely...for me. Reviews are good guides, but not the know-all many seem to think. Problems: None thus far.

I don't see why this site hates this camera so much. It's the fastest compact camera on the market. (I happily paid the extra money for it's response time isn't that why most of us haven't liked our digital cameras?) Amazing flash recovery time. Color reproduction is the best I have seen from a compact camera and I work at a camera store and have seen alot of prints. Yes it does cost more than others but I found the camera to be well worth it. Problems: Yes the screen is a little dark in low ...

I've had this camera for 8 days and I've shot 1350 pics.I guess this statement explains my ease of use rating.Features wise it's nothing short of fantastic compared to cameras like the S400 and great compared to S50.Excellent movie and burst modes, ergonomics are just fantastic.Almost everything is easily accessible except RAW.Also,FAST.I was using the SD100 tonight, just a few hours after using the F700 and the difference seemed huge, even after I disengaged the AiAF on the Canon. I don't ...

George Schaub seems to be pretty high on the F700.(See his review in the Feb.2004 "Shutterbug" magazine.) He says he produced some great 11"X14" prints with the almost 18MB files. I bought the F700 as a pocketable, take everywhere, don't miss a shot camera and I am not disappointed in the image quality, considering that the F700 is a compact unit. Problems: After shooting around 800 images,I can't report any negatives,so far.

It's a nice fast camera. Modern design. It is even faster than Minolta G500 I've had before. You notice this especially when taking shot to shot pictures (without continuous or burst modes). And it is really fast for viewing pictures you took, it flies ! Problems: I am disappointed in picture quality. While the picture quality is probably good for a 3.1 MP camera, it does not match my previous 5MP camera. Advertising F700 camera as a 6MP does not do it for me. I am thinking of ...

This camera really impressed me with its innovative features. The images it captures are more like film, with less of the "video" effect which plagues all digital cameras. It is fast and responsive; it takes the shot when you press the shutter. Its startup and shot to shot time are excellent. It is compact and light. Its power use is low. The included accessories are thoughtfully designed and work well. It is exceptionally easy to use. The endless discussion about the actual number of pixels ...

I'm in with both the Phillips ratings. Maybe the people with negative results on this F700....should not own it! This is my third Finepix. MX1700 and 6800Zoom are handed down to my teenagers... still in the family. Read up on this baby...Dpreview even compares it to their Fuji SLR lineup. This is Fuji's finest "Bang for the Buck" so far. This camera rocks! Day or Night! This camera is not meant to be chewed up and spit out by 'more than novice' operators. Check the price! Problems: No! and ...

Although i really like the camera and the features i have one complaint - it doesn't use the R sensor in the camera. Read the review below this, i wrote the software mentioned to split the S and R sensor data out that is referenced there (there is a newer version BTW). Anway, for all its fine features, and examining many images, i can't find a jpeg image created by the camera that shows any of the R sensor range. And the R sensor is very dramatic when the picture is over exposed. i invite you ...
