Opinion: When it was working my 6 week old camera was
surprising me with the quality of the pics and choices from
the menu. The joy stick button is easy to handle and the
size is just great. But .... it crashed several times already
and it blew a gasket on a daily basis now. Resetting by
removing battery is the only option. Looks like I bought myself a monday morning gizmo.
Problems: Major problems in the reliability department.
It just freezes , and stops functioning, no reply to any
button. Remove battery and restart is the only option.
After such as short period I will have to find a dealer
whom is going to fix it for me in Holland, I bought the
camera in Singapore
Opinion: ALSO BOUGHT THE CAMERA IN SINGAPORE(BOON ELETRICS)- HAD FUN USING IT FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS,SMOOTH EASY TO USE FOR A FIRST TIME DIGI CAMERA USER GOT GREAT RESULTS
Problems: GOT BACK TO AUSTRALIA - CAMERA AT FIRST WOULD NOT RECARGE BATTERY- THEN IT WOULD FREEZE IN JUST ABOUT EVERY FUNCTION LIKE YOU I WOULD RESTET BY REMOVING THE BATTERY BUT THIS DID NOT ALWAYS WORK , FUJIFILM SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING,BOON ELECTRICS SINGAPORE SAID THE SAME,2 WEEKS LATER BOON OFERED TO SWAP IT FOR A NEW ONE WHICH FROZE ON FIRST USE (MAYBE THE TOGGLE?) SO THE GAVE ME THE FINEPIX 6800Z WITH SOME EXTRA EXTRA EXTRAS- SO FAR ITS BEEN GREAT (5 WEEKS LATER)
Opinion: I just bought my F601Z last week and had got the chance to meddle with it over the weekend. I must say that the features were great. It give very good photos on the auto mode. Both the colours and the exposure were fantastic. On top of that it offers great manual features like aperture and shutter priority mode. It also got the manual mode. I love the joystick thingy where you can use to navigate through the menu of features. It is so easy to use. The ISO 1600 setting is handy for night shots. Power on to shot time is very fast, I must say it feels like less than a sec or so. I like the metal body, its so cool :-D Great camera if you are looking for a camera which can take fast and great photos and yet still gives you the full controls with the manual mode. It also give great resolution for the movie mode, 640x480.....
Problems: The only complains I have for this camera is the image quality. I wouldn't its bad, just average. There are visibly more noise in the image as compared to some of the digital camera I had compared against. There are also some features I would like the camera to improve on. That is the ability to lock the exposure and operate the zoom to recompose the frame. This is very essential when you are using spot metering to measure the exposure of a spot and then use it for the shot. I had been using an SLR before and it is possible for me to zoom in to a spot to measure the exposure, lock it then zoom out to compose the frame. Not very sure if the rest of the digital camera to do that though. Another flaw is the inability to operate the zoom once you had set to record for the movie mode. I would wish that the movie mode could function more like a video camera.
Opinion: I bought this camera about 3 weeks ago. It is my first digital camera but I had been after one for a long time and I considered this against many other models.
The construction of the camera is delightful. The metal finish feels sturdy and purposeful. There have been significant improvements in the User interface over the previous models. Button layout/ Multi-function and the graphical menu are both well thought out and logical.
The multimedia aspects of the camera are excellent. The video is easy to use and clear. It makes the best webcam I have ever seen. Ever.
I am no expert but I continue to be staggered by the image quality. Also it has extensive manual options. All levels of photographer are catered for.
I play with the camera daily even after 3 weeks. It is everything I hoped it would be.
Problems: The Memory card supplied is far too small on the highest picture quality. I bought a 128 Mb card with mine which was a good decision.
The USB slot would have been better placed on the side or the back of the camera. the lead means the cradle is required for webcam mode unless you want to hold the camera.
Video does not zoom. Not a big deal.
