Successor - in spirit at least - to the classic FinePix F30/F31fd, the F100fd offers class-leading low light image quality (though the margin is closing) and overall produces some of the best results of any compact camera - whatever the shooting conditions. This, plus the useful 28-140mm equiv. (5x) zoom range and responsive operation, add up to such an appealing package that we're prepared to overlook the dated design, horrible user interface and lack of manual controls. The F100fd has since been joined at the top of the FinePix range by the F200EXR, which uses Fujifilm's next generation EXR sensor technology. (April 2009)

Opinion: A bad IQ can not be fixed easily by other means, so do a narrow angle when I shoot wide natural scenes in mountains while I have almost no possibility to move further away. F30 is good at IQ but bad at angle, while F100 is opposite.
I used to shoot 3M photos since the 6MF on F30 is way blur. I do some futher downscaling to be published on internet, the result is always promising.
Now I can finally shoot crisp 6MF photo using F100 due to its improved lens. Downscaling the photos to 3M then published on today's HD displays, they also looks great.
IQ side, 6MF picture on F100 contains noise, I have to first clean the noise using neatimage and then downscale to 3M. A little bit more work but can be done in a batch.
Battery is the weakness for F100, I have to prepare 2 spare, luckily some chinese replacement variant are very cheap.
Opinion: I have had the F100fd for about a week now, and found it very easy to get a good image straight from the factory defaults.
It has good image quality and usable ISO up to 800, very sharp lens with no noticable corner softness, quick and accurate focus even in low light. It is fast to start and has low shutter lag, and the LCD is visible in very strong sunlight.
But best of all, it is small enough to have with you at all times.
Problems: The menus could be tidied up and simplified, and a couple of my settings storage provided for use on startup.
The battery life could be a bit longer, although I can get a day of shooting of a couple of hundred images from it.
The rear buttons could be moved to provide a better thumb hold to prevent accidently pressing a button.
Opinion: Great camera from FujiFilm. I like the wide lens that comes with this camera. Very good Picture Quality. 5X optical zoom is great. The Sensor is great. Great camera overall. Maybe even a little better than the canon in Picture Quality.
Problems: The only problems that ive had with this camera is the battery life but its no big deal i can just buy an extra battery. Also the Pink issue problem, you only start to notice it at High ISO levels but its no big deal it doesnt interfere with the Photo Prints.
Opinion: Yes it is as good as and even a bit better that my old Fuji finepix F10 (6MP).
ISO100 Good
ISO200 Acceptable
ISO400 but not higher
Pros over F10
+ no cromatic distortion i picture YES!!
+ CCD shift, enables twice as long exposures
+ Wide angle
+ Dynamic ranges is a bit better even in D100% mode
+ Ha! face detection with R eye removal
+ Dispaly is now ok
Same as F10
- Image quality (exept for pros mentioned above)
- Tripod tread in plastic - mad designer? CAD virus?
Worse that F10
- Build quality is now like other cameras, (the F10 were a show of)
- Battery life approx 50% of F10
- Pixelcount bosted to 12 MP ) :
What I miss or would like to have
- 2x Speed in C-shooting 4x speed on flash
- 1:2,8 lens or better
- Battery performance
- Full manual settings with adjusable NR, contrast
- show off build Q
- 9MP for better IQ
- Pixel binning at ISO 800 and top ISO1600
- Flip up display
- Zoom to Pixel level
- Zoom motor in lens. its a bit basic now
Problems: Battery life could be better than my average 200pic per battery
