Opinion: I bought my FP4800 years ago after owning some of the first generation digital cameras w/ their many detailed problems. FP4800 was supposed to serve as a backup to another digital camera I had while travelling. When the camera body on my Nikon FM gave out, I switched over to digital and accidentally I took the case with my backup FP4800. What a stroke of luck that was! It was the first digital camera I owned which could provide me with a depth of coilor that unparalled anything I had seen before. Even the professional digital cameras I've used since then, haven't given me the clarity that I get w/ FP4800. Best of all, the construction is sound and I find it very hard to believe that this camera can survive my lifestyle.

Problems: The biggest limitation of the FP4800 is the lack of a remote control unit. I often mount my camera on a tripod and elevate it to 7feet or so. I take queue from a monitor that's usually right next to me. So it gets very involbved when I have to set the timer and then hope to catch the imae that I want. So far, the lack of a remote device has been the most serious drawback.

Opinion: After having this camera for exactly 2 years now and since there are comments still being posted thought I'd post my own. The camera is very easy to use and does produce very high quality photos but I feel there are too many downsides as below.

Problems: I have had multiple failures since I bought the camera and it has been at the service centre 4 times. 1st time the colour was very dark when using the flash. They managed to tune the white balance to give crisper photos. Next, the battery kept on dying, this was due to an internal circuit problem. Next 2 times the lense kept jamming. 1st time it happened, I managed to percevere for a month or so before it packed in completely. The next time it just died and the remedy was the same - repace the front panel.
All of this was within the warranty period an the staff were very helpful. The camer has now been sitting on my desk for the last 6 months however since it developed the same shutter fault again and with the past history and since it was out of warranty, I decided to buy a new camera - this time I went for the Canon G3.
I also reccomended the Fuji to a friend but alas, it also developed the same shutter problem and after going back and forth to the service centre they also gave up on the camera.
Pity, it is actually a nice camera - no good though if it doesn't work!

Opinion: I've had this camera for more than a year now. I had an HP Photosmart for a week or so and it sucked. The pictures came out bad, it ate up batteries, and it felt cheap. This camera was a great buy. The rechargeable battery and cradle are a godsend, no need to shell out extra $$$ for them. The construction is great; it's magnesium according to Fuji. My dad dropped it once and dented the casing... any other camera would have probably cracked. It has gone everywhere with me, from the Carribbean to Northern Virginia and everywhere in between. The battery life on it is great and it is full of features.

Problems: Taking good pictures will take some time. You sometimes have to tinker around with the menu a bit.

There is a bit of a learning curve if you have never used a digital camera.

The short flash range gets annoying at times and takes some tinkering with the menu to overcome it

Opinion: This is my second digital camera and it took a lot for me to get back into the swing of digital. I bought a first generation digital Olympus 850k pixel. The idea was great, no processing costs etc. But the problems were amazing, terrible battery life, intermittent serial connection to the PC that SOMETIMES worked, big and bulky, slightly dodgy picture quality etc etc.

The Fuji 4800 has squashed all of my fears and more. It is very well built, excellent to hold and use. The picture quality is as sharp as I would ever want it (I never use it above 2.4MP !!), the zoom lens and all the motors sound and feel like they will last forever. The dock is a joy to use, as is the supplied software, simply plug in and the pictures are on screen in a matter of seconds.

On the whole - brilliant, every time I use it I'm glad I handed over the extra money.

Problems: None at all

Opinion: For the money the camera is hard to beat. The "Super CCD" I personally believe lives up to its claims. I am amazed at the picture quailty and image size. I have printed up to 11X19 with out distortion. I wish the camera had more control over basic functions. But it was not designed for that. It does have issuses with barreling at wide angle shots though. The camera at night will use 1/4 shutter speed with out the flash and 1/60 with the flash. This makes is combersom to take senic shots with out the flash. Still in my eyes it is a real value and exellent camera.

Opinion: I have this camera for about 4 months. It makes good pics. The range of flashlight is too small. I like the model and the quality.

Problems: Only the range of the flash.
