Epson Stylus Photo R3000

I'm a noob and no professional by any stretch, but I've done a fair amount of research and I'm still stuck. I'm printing on "gloss" labels from onlinelabels, inkjet paper. We had an old RX580 that died and the pure black areas were rich and inky... and so far no matter the setting we just can't get the R3000 to print the same labels with the same black depth. I'm a documentary filmmaker and photographer. My digital printing has been a seat-of-my-pants endeavor. Sometimes I make great prints, sometimes they suck. I have no idea how to improve a bad print after trying all the usual changes. Hi all,The availability of Lightroom on Linux kept me from completely switching for a long time. Now with Darktable/GIMP and other cool software I have decided to try to make the switch once again.
