Opinion: Very compact camera, offers excellent image quality with and without flash for digicam. Color and resolution are impressive. Performance/Price ratio is outstanding. Easy to use, but also easily controlled resolution, ISO speed, exposure compensation, shutter speed, aperture, infinity focus, white balance, spot meter, self-timer, etc. Good build quality - nice fit, finish, and feel. USB cable provides very fast downloads. NiMH batteries and charger supplied. Digital equivalent to Yashica T4 or Olympus Stylus Epic 35mm cameras, with faster lens and more user controls. Included Sierra software makes excellent stitched panoramas easy, even when hand-holding the camera. (much easier than other stitch programs tried).
Problems: Instructions inadequate - after connecting USB cable for download to PC, not only must the main camera switch be on to "shoot with LCD on", but LENS COVER MUST BE OPEN. Optional AC adapter highly desirable, or else buy USB CF card reader. Lens suffers from flare/ghosting in severe backlighting. Takes two batteries - use LCD sparingly and carry spare batteries. Frequent/recent charging boosts battery performance significantly. Poor response to technical questions - Epson sent a "We'll check on it" reply, but no real answer after 60 days.
Opinion: My first digicam. Loved the small size.
Batteries easy to replace. Great that it
comes with a charger.
Downloads photos very quickly.
Only wish it had a bigger zoom, but alas
you would sacrifice size.
Problems: problem with computer sync.
Had to download driver for USB from the EPSon
website. Had not problems since.
Opinion: A great all-around camera with multiple personalities that will satisfy both beginners and moderately advanced users.
Problems: Manual adjustments take some getting used to.
Opinion: I read a few reviiews on this camera comparing it with the Nikon 700. This camera performed a little better than it, but that was the summer of 2000. I paid roughly $450 for this camera. However, now that other cameras have come out, this one does not seem to compare to those. The image quality outside is satisfactory, but inside with low lighting photos are very unsatisfactory. I am not happy with how the camera performs inside. Also the it only has a 2x zoom on it which lowers the image quality. One thing that i dont like is that there is only one image quality setting. Granted that there is different resolution settings, but you can only export the images in JPG format and the JPEG compression is not customizeable, and it is is quite high compression and you can tell especially when there is big sections of the same color on the images, you can tell that the quality is not acceptible! I would say go with a different camera!
