You either like the way DxO converts the RAW files or not. In a standard setting, it sharpens more, adds a tad more microcontrast and brushes away any form of vignetting, often more than your camera does. I use DxO Optics-Pro 10 and have troubles with a free upgrade from 10.3 towaords 10.4. I received the update request every time during the start of the program, but every next step ends immediately with the message that the DNS in not found. All other connections with internet addresses run smoothly. DxO helpdesk is willing to help me with re-configuring of my router, but I'm a litte anxious that this will result in recovery of my DxO update procedures but problems with one of more ...

I have and use Capture1, PSCS6, LR4, and DXO. While the original version I purchased was slow and buggy....the recent upgrade to DXO7 and then 8 has yielded a very useful processor for converting RAW files to general distribution files for usage. The auto noise control, and most of the parameter changes picked automatically with it's lens and camera modules works really well with the wife and daughter's Lumix cameras, as well as my PS LX5 and LX7 models. I tried the 30 trial version and hated it. This software brings a new meaning to the term counterintuitive. Nothing is logical. And a lot seems to be missing. Take the most basic of tasks, horizon fixing. This is something I have never had any problems with on any software I have ever used, but with DxO Optics Pro I found it impossible to get things straightened out in what was admittedly a complex shot, but one which wouldn’t have challenged either Photoshop or indeed Picassa. So far so good. I have yet to experience the commercial issues described by the other reviewer, but as far as the product go I am very impressed. The current special new year price of $200 is not to bad compared to the market. I recently upgraded Photoshop at a cost of $300. And while Lightroom is a low cost upgrade, I think I have value for money. I bought it to manage the file coming off the D800 and the lens support is nearly perfect, just missing the 14mm Samyang.
