Opinion: Superb! I've had this camera for over 4 years and still find its picture quality unbeatable. What a treasure! The fast f2 lens has no rival in any other digital compact - combined with its ISO 800, it takes better pictures in low light than most of today's cameras, and its ability to nicely blur backgrounds in portraits is astonishing. It also offers a reasonable wide angle (starting at 33-34 mm equivalent). I've had several cameras for the past few years (including a Canon 350D, with several lenses), and still find this camera's pictures beyond belief. Casio could build something like this in 2002! Oh, I just love it.
Opinion: My first digital camera (I also own numeric cameras -nikon FE2 and Bronica ETRS both with several lenses )
I have been using it for 3 years.
PROS

Problems: CONS
Slow startup times
Slow Autofocus times
Slow shot-to-shot times
defective exposure with internal flash
defective manual focusing
Small (and too dark) screen
electric consomation
defective flash exposure
defective Indoor shots
Opinion: I fully agree with adventureadicts comment (24 Feb 06) - word by word.
It was my third digital camera but this Casio let me forget my SRL – so easy to use, small enough to have it with me every minute and offering best colors.
Never during a winter vacation I took less that 10.000 images and I took during the years more than 100.000 images with this little gem. Warm, excellent and pleasing colors (saturation +)
It has a larger sensor for this class of a 5 MP camera (1/1.8) and a larger aperture than usual today (2.0) and a lot of useful features more than normal in those days. The AA batteries have been a great plus while traveling and depending on the type (high current ones with a very low inner resistance) I could take about 250 – 350 photos with one set. Normally I had 3 always with me – yes, a power hog it is …
To be honest, a lot of things could have been/should have been a little better but in the sum, to buy this camera was a good decision.
It’s overused now and the display is dark black – could use it for shaving now … Hardly the main switch is to turn (on or off)
But its difficult to find a replacement . I have waited so long for a new Casio like this one. In vain.
Therefore now first I have tried a Fuji 9000 – My friend bought the same at the same time. Disappointing …Gave it back.
So I decided that I need 2 cameras for a replacement – as smaller ones will not offer all the features that I would like to get.
An excellent and better one as the Casio and then a smaller one for the daily use
I bought a DSC R1 now – and I am very content – But this one is nothing for hiking and therefore the search is going on.
Maybe the second one a Canon A620 will be ordered the next weeks.
Let’s wait and see:
I would be glad if Casio would offer a fast camera with an excellent lens and a large sensor. I know that a large CCD leads to a larger lens and to a larger camera too.
Problems: Purple fringing (not to see on prints) and
noisy at higher IOS-settings
display small and not always bright enough.
Opinion: Construction = Excellent- I have used it in extreme weather conditions (Mountaineering & Sports biker) Used in rainy weather, in below 0 degrees, Tropical Forest,in muddy trails, in lahar striken trails. I have been using it since 2002 and have produced 20,000++ pictures (Treks, rides, birthdays weddings, out of town trips, work).
Features = Excellent - 50+ Pre configured settings Best Shot selection makes it easy to setup the camera for a specific situation (It works),specialy its low light functions like the BULB an 60 sec max shutter speed,High shutter speed 1/1000)
Image Quality - Sunrise, Sunset pictures is great!!!
It has an enhancement feature that brings more life to Sun rise/Sunset RED tones.
Literally this camera have changed my life, and have inspired many of my friends to take my sport. Now Iam still using it and having a difficult time finding a replacement under the same price range. 1 company making sports sandals (Trekking sandals available at all Chris sporting house,Olympic Vilage in SM malls) have used my pictures to promote their product . (www.sandugo.com.ph).
I have covered many activities like friends wedding, Christening, 1st birthdays, Departmental parties, Company sportfest. This cammera is overused and overworked but is still working like new. I want to replace it but not until it dies out on me.. I am having doubts if it will happen in the next 5 years. If you want to see some of my shots check Revangelista@us-isi.com at Friendster. or www.Sandugo..com.ph
Again this camera have inspired me in so many ways and has witnessed my adventurous life. I will never forget my Qv5700.
Problems: Power Hog.. I ussually bring 12 pcs of 2000mAh of Ni-Mh batteries.

it is my 6th year using this camera, The Lens Mount is Broken so I have to hold the lengns in place during and after Auto Focusing, The plastic body holding the Tripod Thread below the camera is loose because of the cracks but other than that this camera stills takes excellent pictures.. I can afford to but a new camera but I fear that Nothing can compare with this one so I am still waiting for this totally die on me.. I still Average 200 Shots a month (I use it every week-end and I average 50 shots / week-end).. This is the most reliable peice of Electronic Equipment I have.. Casio = Reliability!!!
Problems: Power Hog.. I ussually bring 12 pcs of 2000mAh of Ni-Mh batteries.
Opinion: The QV-5700 was my first digital camera about 2 years ago. I found it great. Good picture quality (Canon lense). Well build. Not plastic like. Much possibilities about the user-controls. Easy to use. Have never used the manual.
The only problem I encounterd was the terrible focussing of the lense. Already indoors it was almost impossible to focus coorectly. I do not understand what the use of the focus assistant light was because to me it made no difference at all. Finally I sold the camera because of this. The guy I sold it to was in to photographing flowers and insects. Outdoors never had any problems with focussing.
It's a pity. Besides that the camera is the best buy you can get for the money.
Opinion: S L O W the best possible description. Considering that this camera was introduced little over a year ago, it seems to be out of the Ark in operational terms. I have used many Digicams and have never really noticed the writing or shutter speeds - until I met with this sloth.
In spite of its terrible S L O W operation, it does produce very nice pictures, is extra quiet and smooth in operation, and at its current greatly reduced price ( 2/3 its original) is excellent value for a five meg model with a Canon f2 lens and Compact Flash storage - the cheapest available? Using AA batteries AND has a flash PC socket for off-camera flash; But it certainly is NO Canon anything! A plastic toy more likely. Best left on the shelf - My opinion.
Problems: Nothing broken but the CF card door is VERY flimsy and the only camera I have ever used that stops down to the taking aperture when the first pressure is pressed on the shutter, making the LCD monitor useless. User manual very basic - it took me fifteen minutes to find the Zoom lever, and I still don't know how to Manual Focus! But I expect the real manual is somewhere in the CD ROM?
Opinion: For 330 euros got a great digital camera,with a 2-2.5f lense,full of features,amazing pics with great colors .
I'm very happy with the results i get from this camera so I forgive 2 serious minuses.
I like this casio a lot and i will highly recomend it for those who are patient enough to find the right buttons of this babe.
I salute you all brothers and sisters.
Problems: 1) Here in Greece the Sun is very bright and the LCD is practically useless. So i try to find some shadow to use the manual mode.
2) The AF does'nt work in low light.
Opinion: I've had this camera for a year and shot thousands of photos. I think that for its price, features and quality this is one of the best cameras on sale. Unfortunately, very few people have bought it and Casio, after only a year, do not provide the accessories for the camera any more. I'm still enjoing it. Just a weakness: the flash, but i have resolved easily with an external one.
Problems: Weak flash.
