Pleased overall with the level of features. Problems: Slightly disappointed with low light outdoors image quality; very disappointed that movies limited to 10 mins (not what it says in the handbook!)

I recently got a Casio EX-Z850 for my birthday and uploaded the improved HQ video firmware, v1.1B, before putting it through its paces. I did a lot of reading about the Z850 and Z750, which gets more favourable comments for both its photo and video quality, and I was very tempted to exchange it for the Z750, but didn't and don't mind that I didn't either. The Z850 is my first digital camera and I'm impressed! The screen is big and bright, the battery life is immense and it's intuitive to use ...

Good camera, with excellent features, image quality is for the paid money verry good. Noise is visible up ISO 400. Build quality is so so...the chrome plate around the camera (upside, near power button) is loose....the glue seems to be poor there. Movie mode after firmware update is good to verry good. Overall an good run for the money. Recommanded. Problems: Build quality.

Fits my needs as a carry-around perfectly. Small, soilidly built, aperture/shutter/manual modes, what's there not to like? I'm a D-SLR user, so I really appreciate having ASM modes in such a compact package (currently not much competition in the marketplace). Don't get me wrong; it works great as a full auto camera (i.e. Auto mode or any of the Scene modes) but if you have a good understanding of exposure settings, this camera will do wonders. Posted 2 sample photos in the Casio Talk forum ...

I use the EX-Z850 as my "carry it with me wherever I go" camera, and have a Nikon D200 for more serious stuff. This camera is absolutely marvelous - outstanding image quality, easy to use, phenomenal battery life. Great in point-and-shoot mode, but also easy to customize in endless ways. Probably the most important thing to know for people who have complained about image quality is that it appears that stock automatic exposure runs from 1/2 to a full stop overexposed. Casio should firmware ...

excellent overall image quality - sharp and detailed (i setted -1 sharpness and +1 saturation); colors are bright and the auto WB makes a good work. Also, i loaded the ISO 800-1600-3200 Best Shots- very useful (thanks to the author). A bit of overexposing but i can manage throug spotting (as well as i did in my previous ixus 50)and compensation level. Problems: Videos: not good as advertised - the HQ video suffers of stairstepping over straight lines. NQ have less stairstepping but more ...

Camera is zip-a-dee-doo-dah in terms of start-up and shot-to-shot. After about 300+ pictures (50% flash) only ONE had red-eye, and only in ONE eye! And this is without using the red-eye-reduction feature/flash mode! The camera is JAM PACKED with features. When I first read in the forums that this camera might not be the best pick for someone who wants a true P&S, I was actually a tad intimidated and thought that that was me. But after reading all the good points that others mentioned, I ...

"Amazing camera with easy, fast menus and great pics!" I researched this camera a lot before I bought it and it is everything I was hoping it would be. It is a nice small size especially for having such a beautiful 2.5" screen. The zoom is fast, the lag time between shots is very short, and the menus respond immediately and are easy to learn. It has a beautiful metal casing and the buttons are large enough for most fingers. Also, the battery lasts a very long time which is a huge relief for ...
