Opinion: this is a superb camera and i am very happy with it. it takes excellent pics loaded with incredible features, a wonderful investment to make in a digital camera.
Problems: i do have the noisey movies in HQ mode but it doesnt bother me much.
Opinion: Fast, full-featured, easy to use, great pictures, nice size, great battery life. Go to pbase.com and do a camera search typing in casio ex-z850 to see actual examples of what the camera is capable of.
Problems: The video problems that many people complain about have been solved with a firmware update from Casio as of the beginning of August, 2006.
Opinion: Great camera. It takes beautiful pictures. The video quality is really good, i dont have any problems with it like other reviewers. Its very simple to use, menu couldnt be any easier.
Its got plenty of fantastic feauters helping you to take even better pictures! Before I bought the Casio camera I was wondering of buying Sony N1. Today I know I choosed the right camera, much better than any compact camera by Sony.
Problems: The only one problem i get is when reviewing the pictures some parts of the display are flashing/shaking, I get the feeling like the picture is moving.
Opinion: This is a good camera and if you are looking for a still camera then yes i recomment it.
I'm impressed with the picture it takes - have taken some really good night time ones
The LCD display in bright sunlight IS still useable - have not had to fall back on to the view finder.
The battery life is amazing
Problems: UPDATE 4th Aug :
Casio did take onboard all the comments about the video quality and have just released updated firmnware where they have tried to fix the video quality. To be fair to them they have done a good job and it is now useable, the only downside is that it has reduced the field of vision. See casio forum for more details.
The major issue is the Video quality - it is POOR. It is significantly worst than the really good Z750 - no idea why casio did this (see Casio forum for more details - lots of posts)
The outstanding question - is it fixably via a Firmware update ?- however it seems impossible to get CASIO to produce a definite statement on this (their Customer service is not great)
If CASIO do fix the video this will be a great CAMERA
I also have some problems with the docking station locking when i try and transfer images to the PC
The software which comes with the camera is very basic
