Opinion: I bought this camera and had to return it because the camera screen was fuzzy. I contacted Casio and they could not figure out what the problem was and recommended that I return it because they felt it was a defective camera. I exchanged it for another EXZ1000 and had the same problem. The screen was extremely fuzzy like a broken TV set. I finally returned it and bought the EXZ850 which was excellent.
Problems: Fuzzy LCD screen
Opinion: Purchased my Casio EX-Z1000 from Beach Camera.com about 3 weeks ago. The camera is typically used at work and in extreme sunlight and heat conditions on Nellis AFB in NV. To date, the photos have been excellent. The camera is extremely easy to use and its held up nicely in 110+ degrees while being used on the flightline. The screen is easily visable in very bright sunlight conditions. 1-gig memory cards make it possible to record 15-minute videos which when viewed have excellent playback capabilites. Downloading the camera is easy but you have to use a base. Battery life is excellent. The anti-shake feature works very nicely when taking photos or recording videos. Overall an excellent camera.
Problems: Zoom is adequate for such a small camera but very limited. Audio recording was marginal. Software package is limited in its capabilites. The fact that you have to use a camera base to download photos makes the process slower
Opinion: I bought a Ricoh R4, but was rather disappointed of the image quality in low light. Espacially the autofocus does not work as I imagined.
Now the Exilim Z-1000, which is a very fine little camera for P&S. It was love on first sight and I am really glad with it. For me it has all features I need, when I don't to carry my Olympus-Equipment (E-1 and E-330) with me.
Problems: No problems in any way.
Opinion: I like the design and construction of the camera very much. However, image quality was disappointing. Most pictures were fuzzy as well as the LCD display. Unless pictures were taken in bright daylight there was lot's of noise. Finally I returned the Z1000.
