This is a gem of a camera, so incredibly capable, pocketable, shoots excellent stills and amazing video. The video is not only high in quality, but there is a zoom that is actually usable.. not slow and going in/out of focus like Panny TZ3 and 5 cams. This actually zooms in a snap, focus locked, even in less than good light. This is great for documenting, you take a photo, and using the bestshot mode, annotate it. I've even used the camera as a voice recorder, and a flash light in a pinch! ...

Fits nicely for the pocket, but has lousy image quality.

Casio EX-V8, 8mp plus 7x zoom fits in your pocket and you can get housing so you go under water with it. This may be the best P&S ever built because of the 7x zoom get a new one before they are all gone for ever. I just might have to get a second one and leave it in the box just incase I need it yrs to come. Problems: Used it for 12months and perfect in every way.

What's up with casio? I owned the V7 and returned it because the IQ was not sufficient for me. While i thought about a new cam the V8 came out and i was hell of exited about the upgrade on the V7! The concept is not bad at all. The features look awesome on the specs sheet. The video quality is suprisingly good if the zoom would be accurate. (This was an issue of the V7 ,too) There are a few manual contols that's nice. You can take long exposure pictures in the dark. Not an essential feature ...

Very useful camera, many features. Especially like the ability to load up to 999 own user defined Best Shot modes. Image quality sufficient at all focal lengths and ISO settings for 4"x6" prints. With care up to A3 (11"x16" approx) prints would be OK. Lens seems best at mid to max tele, some corner softness at wide, but that's pixel peeping. OK on 4"x6" prints. Stick to ISO 50 if wanting large prints of say 8"x11" or 11"x16" size. Exceptionally quiet to use, turn off the beeps and in a quiet ...

I do not own this camera...but I am posting this in response to another rating from someone else who doesn't have this camera...to balance him out. An annoying trend here ..posting numbers for a camera you never used and influencing ratings.

I found this camera to be better than many Internet reviews suggest. The image quality compares with that of other P&S I have tried and the video quality is surprisingly good. Expect that the long end of the zoom range produces only fair results, but better than none. Having good light conditions makes a big difference. The user interface provides many options, makes them user programmable, and easy to activate. The build quality appears good. The camera is a bit heavy, but still ok. Overa ...

Super compact. Very fast start-up. Best Shot modes are a huge help. Fast focus in most all conditions. Movie mode is incredible. Sharpness, colors, all are very pleasing. 7X zoom is very nice. Problems: No problems yet. :-) I wish the owners manual was better. I would have liked that there was an equiv. of a 28mm at bottom end of zoom. The "low light" focus could be a little faster.

I've always liked Casio cameras for their many features packed into a compact and stylish body. This camera, like my other Casio's has a beautiful movie mode. Best shot modes for pictures and movies and a built in video light for low light videos. It's like having a portable video cam that takes great pictures in a truely pocket sized camera. Real value for the money!

The specs on DPreview say this cam does not have youtube capture mode, but it does. Also timelapse features and a 4 sec (not 1/2 sec) min shutter. The ex-s880 also has timelapse but the specs here say it does not. What's up?
