When the Speedlite EX550 is attached to the EOS 7D and powered up the camera fails to show that flash is available and the external flash menu settings report that the flash unit is either incompatible or not powered up. On a different camera (EOS 450D) the camera display shows flash available and the external flash menu settings are available.  On both cameras the flash does fire when the shutter is activated. Have I got a setting wrong on the EOS 7D or is it broken?

Hi There, I have had a new xt1 for about a week or so now and I'm still becoming familiar with it. On the whole I am enjoying the shooting experience although it does require some adaption and getting used to coming from a Canon 7D - this was anticipated. One of the occasional annoyances I have is when reviewing photos via playback. Sometimes it will pause for a number of seconds when switching between images, other times it looks as if it is spending time rendering the image. I have UHS-II...

I read an article online about using older Canon lenses on EOS cameras. They were not as good optically as the latest, but much cheaper. Unfortunately I did not save the page and wondered if anyone on here could help. I am not sure what lens I want, I already have a 100-400mm but need something shorter, for shooting grandkids for EG.  Suggestions please.

I have my 7D2 just how i like it, except for one thing- How do I select the initial AF point when I'm in 65 zone mode (when in ai servo)? I had the camera doing just this for a while, now, when I choose all the AF points, the camera selects the initial AF point. Not what I want. I shoot birds, with a bunch of BIF.  BTW, what I like most is the relocated DOF button, which I use to switch from one shot to ai servo. I tried back button AF, but it just isn't for me, using the DOF button for this...

Recently I've been asked to shoot some athletics events and have another one coming up.  I like to shoot in RAW as it suits my workflow.  I've been using my 6D and 1Ds2 and whilst I've got by switching cameras as the buffers clear, I wouldn't mind something with a deeper faster buffer.  A faster frame rate would be nice too.  A crop body would suit me as I'd be using it with a 70-200f4.  A 7DMk2 seems ideal, but as this isn't paid work, so I don't want to shell out that much. There are a few...

Hi all, since some time I'm looking for an ILC camera and I've narrowed down the choice to three cameras:The Canon 7D, Pentax K-5 II and the Sony A6000. I now these cameras quite differ from each other! What's (do I think) important for me?- Good autofocus and some tracking capabilities- Video features- Nice out-of-the-camera colours in JPEG: I've better things to do than correcting colours of family pictures in post – but setting the exposure manually shouldn't be a problem. And for really...

Has anyone had issues with their Canon 1Dx after updating from Firmware version 2.0.3 to version 2.0.7? i purchased my 1Dx 8/6/13 and shortly thereafter updated to firmware 2.0.3. It has worked fine with all my lenses (all canon), up until  6/25/15 when i downloaded firmware version 2.0.7 and  updated my camera, it has crashed my camera auto focus functions, i get error 1 no communication to all my lenses when i have them switched to auto-focus, i have removed batteries (main & cmos), cleared...

Hello, I'm not sure if I'm just that bad at googling or I can't find what I need on the Canon Canada site, but I'm trying to decide if I should become a gold CPS member (assuming I can). I have a 500mm f4, a 100-400mm ii, 7d and 7d mk ii. Right now nothing is "broken" with them, but I have never had any of them serviced (the 500mm f4 was serviced/checked over by the previous owner, a camera rental store, more than a year ago. 7d mk ii is used and has 21k actuations on it, 7d was used and i...
