Hi experts. I see that you guys are kind and answer these kinda questions..  I am overwhelmed trying to decide on new pro-sumer camera body & need ur help!! Must work with my lotsa lenses for my old Maxxum 7D and have anti-shake in body. Primarly shoot indoor sports w/out flash (wrestling) and outdoor sports like softball.  Also nature/landscape shots.  Video too.. Budget would be $800 tops maybe. I think I am reading things right in that Sony says they are keeping this lens mount but still...

I also want to move into full frame and am considering a sigma 18-35mm f1.8 lens.  I would like better bokeh and use it with my 7d too.  Would using a lower resolution setting work so that I don't have to deal with clipping the corners? I wish canon had nikon's feature that makes fx cameras use the center of the sensor and behave like a dx so that I can use my efs lenses while I save for a 24-70L. Regards, merlyn

At dpreview most of the user reviews tend to rate this lens highly on Canon but not so well on Nikon.  Fortunatley I'm a Canon shooter, currently with a 60D and getting a 7D MkII shortly.  I'm also looking to get a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens for shooting ice hockey.  Will the Sigma 70-200 have fast enough zoom and autofocus for this sport? Currently my only lens that goes over 70mm is the Sigma 50-500.  I find that its AF is fast enough to get the action easily, but it's too slow to zoom to keep up...

I have a Canon 7D (the old one) and it is unresponsive to freshly charged batteries. nothing lights up and nothing flashes, no error messages or anything. I have replaced the battery with a brand new canon battery and also the CR1616 button battery as well. no change. I have tried it both with and without CF cards, and with and without a lens. no dice. as best I can tell it is the DC/DC pcb that has shorted out (apparently there is a screw which can come loose?) Before I attempt the repair, I...

is the 70D sensor a tiny tiny little little little bit larger than the 7D2 sensor? or are they exactly exactly the same? --My gallery. Street photography is free speech and records our history. The Canon 7D  has some nice video capability which I use once in a while. I also carry a FLIP video. They are usually quick situations that to not allow mounting the Canon on a tripod. I hold the FLIP in my hand in front of me. The FLIP body acts as a kind of handle to allow steady shots and smooth panning. When I shoot video with the CANON holding the body the way as if shooting stills, the resulting pans are quite jerky.  I sometimes screw a small tripod into the Canon bottom and use the...

The aftermarket cable release I have been using on my 7D (as well as the one I replaced it with) doesn't work reliably. It will fire if I wiggle the connection at the camera. Sounds to me like a problem with the connector on the camera but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has any observations. I'm about to send the camera in to Canon to have the problem addressed but I thought I'd throw it out here first. Thanks

I'm looking into a led light to use with my EOS 7D for video.  Ads I've read (eg. Metz LED-320) talk about light output in LUX, and the field of illumination as 'light angle'. I understand Guide numbers, and field of view as they are used with Speedlights. Is there anywhere on the web or a book that can convert LUX into guide numbers, and the 'light angle' into equivalent 35 mm focal length? Thanks.
