I am a total beginner regarding video so forgive me if  I have a tech question about formats and standards that  may sound stupid  to many of you. When I started  taking video with a Canon 7D I went for 24p for the film look and PAL standard since I am in Europe. I then bought a Sony A7R2 and wanted to do the same. However, the A7R2 allows me to record 24p ONLY IN NTSC mode, if I want to shoot in PAL it would force me to go for 25p. BTW in my Canon the 2 things are not linked to each other...

After going through a lot of threads while there is a lot of good info, a lot of it is old. and was looking to hear about some people's solutions. I'm not going to buy the Canon unit any time soon, it's just not worth it for my use case. It would seem the 3rd party hardware options look mediocre at best, but please correct me if I am wrong. So I was focusing on the app/software combo of updating the files with the geotag info after the fact, as unpleasant as that sounds. As an Android user I...

I use a Canon 450D with a 70-200 f4L IS for portrait and travel photography for a while now but I want to upgrade my body for better ISO performance, more frames per second (to be able to shoot sports as well), and better autofocus performance because the 450D quite often missed focus by a few millimeters even with subjects that were not moving. So here's my question: what camera do you recommend me to look at as a semi-professional DSLR? I was interested in the 7D mark II, but I heard that...

Hi From various forums I heard that the Canon 75-300mm kit lens is one of the worst lenses ever produced, so I think I should upgrade out of that. I am personally very disappointed with its image quality, but I also don't want to spend more than $200 on an upgrade so L lenses are out of the question.  I was considering either a Sigma 70-300mm APO or Tamron 70-300mm to replace the Canon kit lens. Both seem pretty well made, I am just curious which has the best optical quality. The Sigma costs...

I've been using a 15'' MBP for several years now with an external 23'' graphics monitor.  It is getting pretty clunky in the last year and have been thinking on getting a new one soon.  I use LR5 pretty much 95% of the time and CS5 a bit.  I've been looking at the options on the ones on B&H ranging from $1799 to $2499.  All of the ones in this range have 16GB of DDR3L ram and 512GB Flash storage.  I use a couple of 1 to 2 TB external drives as backups and for Time Machine so I think the 512GB...

Hi guys! So I will be going on a holiday on a cruise from the Philippines, to Hong Kong, a few other places then back to Australia where I live and work. Parents want one last big holiday with my brother and I. I am also in the market to upgrade from my trusty 7D to a Full Frame, likely the 5D3 (I hope to get the 5d4 if it gets released before then) while I am there during the months of September and October. Anyone here recommend for or against making a purchase whilst in Hong Kong? I have...

The problem is with.... Select AF area selec. mode.......I have all the modes checked, I can check or uncheck all modes except for the second choice. It is checked now, but when I move through all the choices, the second choice is skipped over. I have read and reread the manual without success. A nudge in the right direction would be very helpful. Thanks to anyone who can help.

This summer I’ll be taking a trip and want to be well prepared for wildlife pictures. I currently have a 7D ii and 70-200 F2.8L IS (Not II) I’m interested in feedback on any of these options to rent or buy: Canon Extender EF 2X III (or 1.4) for the 70-200Cheapest and still fastest aperture. Not sure about focus speed and IQ with older zoom. Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6L IS IICan’t go wrong – but expensive Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6L LCheaper and good enough? Canon 400 f5.6LLighter and cheaper – but...

Hello All, I'm currently using 60D + 100-400 MK II combination for wildlife photography. Now, I have an option of picking up a 1D MK IV from one of my friend, body is in good condition and I will know shutter actuations in couple of days (currently at canon service). Price is almost similar to 7D MK II (~100$ less). Now, would like to know from you experts, a. Considering advances in AF, Sensor and ISO on 7D MK II, how does 1D MK IV compare to it b. If anyone of you have both the bodies, how...
