I am interested to know if you can do time lapse videos with the 70D. I don't want to do a series of still pictures and put them in a video editor to make them look as if it is a video. I had bad experiences with still pictures in a video editor. The video editor changes the still pictures to the same format as the video which makes them blurry. Because of this I want to start with video and end with video so the pictures stay sharp. So, can you make VIDEO time lapse with the 70D? Al

I'm looking at 17-55mm f/2.8 USM and I'm absolutely in love with it after reading up about it and looking at some test photos. But I'm torn if it's going to perform poor against an 18-135mm STM when taking videos. I understand the speed (aperture) difference between the two, I'm just concerned if I'm getting more value for my money getting the 17-55mm than the 18-135mm. I kinda have budget for either of the two, I normally shoot my kids and food, sometimes live events. Any insight would be...
I'm going to be taking pictures of christmas lights tonight. I may try some low depth of field shots but while walking down the trail of lights with friends, generally i'm going to want max depth of field with enough speed to avoid shake. I'm thinking i could just use P and the front dial to adjust the set. But am I overlooking a way to use T mode that I should try? For example T with the minimum shutter speed that I think will avoid shake? I cant think of a good way to use Aperture mode in...
I'm going to the trail of lights tonight. I've always gotten good results in years past but want to know if anyone has any suggestions i haven't thought of. I have a new Canon 70D to try this year. Last years i was just using a Fuji xf1. I'm thinking with the 70D i can have higher ISO so less motion blur, and maybe reduce the flash strength. In pictures of just the lights reduced exposure works, dont want the picture to look like daylight.
I've been reading through the various threads about the lack of native GPS capability in the EOS 70D. In those threads, I've seen comments that suggest that it may be possible to use the GPS device in your smartphone to geotag the pictures in the camera, but so far, I haven't found anything that says for sure that you can or can't do that, or if so, how. Ideally, I would prefer a solution that uses a Wi-fi connection to the phone, but I'd even consider a tethered solution if that was the only...
I had a 650D and use a 430EX speedlite and noticed that the images came out warmer if I set the white balance to flash (compared to AWB). However, I read in the manual that when using the flash the auto white balance should automatically change to flash, and in either case the flash should transmit color information, but that didn't seem to be the case for me. Just recently I got a 70D and tested this hoping it'd be fixed but unfortunately I'm getting the same results (sorry for the bland...
