So im looking for a few new lens for my canon 70d as I'm going to be doing a lot of travelling in the next few years. I mainly want some lens for landscape photography on a crop sensor and a lens for general use/travelling. First up I've been tossing between the sigma 10-20mm or the tokina 11-16mm, I'm unsure which is better for what I'm doing, they both have some pretty good reviews, but I don't think I need both. Which one is the best to opt for? next I've been thinking the canon 50mm or...

I have a Canon 70D (1.6x Crop sensor) and got a Canon 50mm 1.8 II as my first lens. I love the 50mm’s ability for portrait and bokeh and low light etc. But I found it was pretty limited and I needed a standard zoom lens for everyday/trips etc. I’ve come across an offer for a used ‘Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM’ for €120 (it’s about €300 new in shops). A pretty good deal assuming it’s in good condition. I’m wondering if it’s worth getting it as an upgrade from my 50mm 1.8 II and selling on the...

I have recently become the proud owner of a new canon 70D. I used to own a nikon d100 (lol) and recently upgraded to the 70D, as I enjoy doing stills and wanted to do some video as well and it seemed a good fit. I have really enjoyed it, to the point where I feel like I want to make this a bigger part of my life, and therefore invest a lot of my time and money into this. I am a relative novice, but I do feel like I am excelling in my understanding of the technical aspects as well as creative...

Hello, i am about to buy a Canon EOS 6d or Nikon D610. I have sold my Canon 70D and have this lenses : Canon 17-40 L f/4 USM, Canon 100mm macro 2,8 USM and Canon 50mm 1,8. I still cant decided which of these two cameras is better. When I look at Snapsort Nikon D610 wins with a better image quality. I dont care too much about things as wifi or video, but I am curious how big diffrence between these two cameras is in the image quality. I shoot mainly portraits, proms and weddings. Selling my...

Ok well I have been shooting raw with my 70d like you all suggested that I do. I like how I can pull shadows and stuff like that. I have been using dpp since it came free with the camera. So lately I have been wondering if lightroom is worth buying? What does it do that dpp doesnt?  Does it handle noise better, allow sharper images,  or easier to get that look you want?   I noticed that dpp is adjusting settings based on what I have set in the camera. So if I would leave the pics like that I...

I did an event last night with mmy new camera. Set it all up according to the manual. Made sure I have the Live Veiw set correctly. Got home and there are no photos!!!! After experimentation tonight, I have discovered that all those photos I took in live view didn't get saved to the disk.  To save the photos I took I have to hold my finger on the button for an extended period of time. The camera clicks and clacks away flashes on and off and then I get my photo? Does this sound right to anyone...

Can anyone help me.  I am new to this and apologize in advance for any blunders I make.  I own a Canon 70D and have had it for about 1.5 years.  I am having a problem with EOS Utility that comes with the camera.  I has worked fine until this week.  I suspect it has only been since windows update day (Wednesday here in NZ).  The problem is that when I run EOS utility, either via Wifi or cable I only get grey boxes where the photos should be.  The jpg numbers are correct and there is no...

I'm looking at options for a fast, reasonably wide-angle for ( among other things ) shooting the stars. A recommendation I got for the Samyang 24mm 1.4 lens failed as the internet is full of complaints about it's image quality at full aperture. I don't have a fortune to spend but would like to see what the options are. Any ideas?
