I'm an amateur photographer that mostly shoot portraits, landscape and events. I bought my 70d last 3 months and i only own one lens, which is a 24-105mm f4l is usm. i feel like i need both a ultra wide angle lens and a prime lens. i got a budget around $900 to buy both of that lens. What two lens do you think i should buy?  here's some of my choices after doing some research ultra wide : -canon 10-18 f4,5-5,6 is stm -canon 10-22 f3,5-4,5 usm -tokina 11-16 f2,8 primes : -canon 'nifty fifty'...

Dear Friends, I am curious if anyone has any experience with a 35 mm 1.4 L on a 70 D frame?  I currently have the 50 mm 1.8, which I love as a combo, and a 10-22mm for more outdoor shots, however it's not so sharp and almost too wide angle.  I love the bokeh, sharpness, and slight wide angle component that I have seen on peoples examples on FF but not sure how it would be on a crop like the 70D.  Any thoughts are sincerely appreciated!   Cheers

Does anyone use a third party hotshoe flash for Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 7D, EOS 70D? I want to buy a universal external hotshoe flash for Canon EOS 5D Mark III, EOS 7D, and EOS 70D. I don't intend to buy Canon flashes because of little budget. I will use the flash for most landscape photography. Thanks for any suggestion!

Hi Guys I own Canon 70D for about 6 months now. Have tested the camera well for Hot Pixels or Stuck pixels when I received it. Yesterday while doing a party event I observed a red bright pixel on the LCD in LiveView. First I thought it maybe a stuck pixel on the LCD. I changed to Video mode and the pixel was gone. Again I switched back and saw the pixel sitting on my LCD. I think this rules out any issues with the LCD. I took some snaps at ISO 100 and 200 the pixel abnormality was not visible...

I am seeing some odd behaviour when I have the Set button configured to adjust Flash Exposure Compensation.  It seems that I am forced to press the Info button first to enable the LCD before I am can get any response from the Set button.  If I'm in shooting mode (i.e not in the menus, nothing on the LCD) and I press Set, nothing happens.  If I press Info first, then press Set I get the Flash Exposure Comp. menu. If I configure the Set button for something else like Image Quality the Set...

I'm finally upgrading from my 40D to the 70D Mark ll & trying to decide which one of the telephoto lenses to get for capturing dogs working in agility & other activities! How is the newest 70-200 f/2.8L ll lens is it a bit to heavy for running around with all day? May have to consider the 70-200 f/4 IS, would like to use a 100-400 for the coverage but concerned about the speed/light inside & out..... Please keep in mind I'm no spring chicken, but still try acting like one ;-)

I used my 50mm f/1.4 Canon lens to do the AF test as documented here http://digital.photorecommendations.com/recs/2014/03/70d-center-focus-point-issue/ I placed my new refurb 70D on my Manfrotto tripod, used my electronic beam level to make sure the front plane of the lens (against the front edge of the filter ring) and the rotation of the camera were both square to the target. Focus target for both viewfinder and Live View were dead on the center widget of the target. These pics are JPG SOOC...

I have a Canon EOS5D MkIII and (would) like to do (among other things) food, insect and flower photography. I've a number of zoom and prime lenses (including the EF 50mm f/1.4) but no macro lens. 1. I'm potentially looking at the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro but I'm confused on a number of points. Firstly, looking at the spec the lens is described as producing 0.5X shots but reading the product description from one trader that states "Optional Converter for 1:1 Macro". Is this a separate...
