I'm looking for a birthday present for someone who has a Canon Eos Rebel T4i and currently owns both the efs18-55mm and the 55-250mm.  These lenses have been great starters but underperformed in low light and telephoto situations so he is looking for a lens that would do these jobs.  So, specifically, my question is, what is the "next step" lens for this camera?

I own the Canon T4i along with three zoom lenses; the EF-S 10-22, an EF-S 18-135 STM and an EF 70-300. Canon has the EF 24-105 F4l refurbished on sale for $639.99 and I'm wondering about pulling the trigger. My main concern is the three lenses have a nice amount of overlap that I would lose on the 24 mm end. I'm not a professional photographer  but I do occasionally blow up a shot and hang it on the walls.  Thanks

New to digital, so the idea of a 3rd party program on my camera (a T4i) scares me, but after a review by Toby (photorec.tv) it looks like it does some cool things.  Anyone have good things and/or bad things to say about ML?  Would you put it on your camera? --John N.

I'm late to the digital photography world and was wondering at what mega pixel count does a top of line lens matter.  I have a T4i (18MP crop) and wondering if a canon L series would make that much difference on it.  I'd see a benifit if full frame and 24MP, but at what point does it matter?  8MP, 12MP, 18MP?  Thanks for the discussion. --John N.

Hello, I have suddenly faced a problem with my Canon EOS 650D SLR camera and its EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens. It has trouble focusing whenever it is not on one of the lens extremes. For instance, if I try to focus at either 18 or 55 mm then auto-focus works fine but as soon as I move the lens to try and focus at any point between those 18 or 55 mm then the lens cannot focus and I do not hear the beep which tells a subject has been focused. Manual focus works correctly and I can shoot...

HI, I bought the abovementioned adapter to fit a Pentax 135mm f/2.5 lens to my Canon 650D body, which worked fine. Now that I'm done with it, I can't get the adapter off of the lens since there's no lens-release button like there is on the Canon body. Any ideas how I can do this? Thanks Roger

I just purchased the 70D from Adorama and am swimming in the steep learning curve. I'm quickly suffering the same external flash underexposure problems that are now legend in DPR. What is the latest firmware for the 70D. Mine is 1.1.1. For some reason it's hard to find anything on the Canon site about the latest firmware. The external flash issue is a big disappointment. I use the Gary Fong Lightsphere with the 580EXII, and it worked wonderfully on my T4i and 40D. Shocking that the 70D has...

Hi, everybody, I just got a used T4i with 18-135 stm lens on ebay. But there seems to be something wrong with the flash. When shooting in low light conditions, the flash doesn't affect the shutter speed in A mode. But if I switch to Auto mode, it seems the shutter speed is fixed at 1/60.  Without flash, 1/2 s With flash, still 1/2 s, other exposure parameters are the same Auto Mode, shutter speed 1/60s, this is what I want , a faster shutter speed!  Can you guys help me solve this...

I just received my Yong Nuo 600EX-RT flash for my Canon T4i w/18-135 STM and used it for the first time at a family event today. For the last several years, I have gotten somewhat comfortable in manual mode for still shots where I have time to set up, but mainly use Av mode without any flash for most situations involving people. Being my first experience with an external flash and not really understanding why it does what it does in Av mode, I decided to use Auto (A+) mode to make sure the...

I'm having some difficulties with my Samyang 14mm f/2.8 from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, and my 2nd hand (but feels brand new) Canon 70D bought in Tokyo, Japan, both bought this year in person. The same lens also had the same problem when used with a Canon 650D. The Samyang is manual focus and manual aperture.  So when I shoot using Manual mode in live view, I will set the aperture, shutter and ISO accordingly, with a satisfactory live view of the photo i want. But when i press the shutter down and...
