I have recently "gifted" my Canon T2i to my daughter and son-in-law to take pictures (for me) of their 1 year old son. In looking to replace, I have considered the Canon T6s with 18-135 STM lens but have received several recommendations to move to mirrorless. My most used Canon lens was the 18-135 STM. I am told that the newer mirrorless cameras are every bit as good as the older "consumer/prosumer" DSLR's. Given my age (turning 60) and travel to see my grandchildren, size is becoming a...

Obviously I can pick up the former model a little cheaper but is it worth paying extra for the STM? I have a 550D and do not intend to do very much in terms of video (is this the main benefit of STM)?

hi, I have a canon t2i and I'm thinking about getting a 60d. I was wondering if there was a off camera follow focus or in camera software add on that lets my canon do continous autofocus, since I0 don't have it and the only new camera I can probably afford is this friend's 60d. Continous autofocus is very important and I would appreciate y'alls help! Thank!

Hello Forum, I print at Walmart (in Toronto) because it's inexpensive. I use ACR to convert Canon t2i raws into jpg (or Photoshop for simple edits). Recently, I noticed that the 4x6 prints end up over-sharpened or otherwise odd (the best way I can describe it with my amateur eyes / vocabulary.) I don't quite understand why they come out like this. I normally set the camera profile to neutral and disable most if not all of the ACR settings. Last month, I decided to print a 4x6 along with an...

Hi there, I was hoping to get some tips on taking photos in a bar at night, without a handheld flash. It won't be a club setting, just an event taking place in a bar. I am currently using a Canon 550D with an 18-135mm lens. I normally take photos as a hobby and just adapt to the settings as I go, but I've been asked to do this by friends and I'm suddenly a bit nervous that I'll mess the photos up. Thanks!

My girlfriend currently has a Canon EOS Rebel T2i with various lenses. She is looking to upgrade since she is starting to do more photography jobs on the side and feels she could benefit from the newest technology Canon has to offer. Her budget approximately +/- $1,200 and thus far she has this in mind: Canon EOS Rebel T6s (she wants all of her lenses to be compatible) She mostly shoots portraits (indoor and outdoor with focus more on outdoor). She is looking for a significant upgrade in...

Situation: shot a sequence of images for a virtual tour in 12mm. Problem: in order to stitch properly, the images should be in 18mm. Is there a simple / clean way to convert/crop/transform the images? I.e. they should be more narrow, but I have no idea HOW MUCH more narrow. If there's a formula, or a converter program, I'd really appreciate any advice. Thanks! Canon Rebel T2i, Tokina 12-24mm lens (if that matters).

I always wanted to shoot in flim. My photography started in Digital with T2i. I wanted to try out a manual flim camera. One of my colleague has a Minolta SRT-101 and 58mm f/1.4.  I haven't seen the camera myself. I will get my hands in it on next tuesday. I'm wondering what is the maximum aperture you recommend that is not too narrow for manual focusing? Thanks in advance I will update with further details
